The workers deserve a holiday off to spend with their families.

These stores think they look good by closing the stores for the Holiday. What about the warehouse and the many many more employees behind the scenes than just the ones in store. The employees at the store are more than deserving but so are the unseen ones.

I work at UPS and srart bright and early and drivers will be working all day to deliver packages, so yes a lot of us behind the scenes work that day.

    • Greytgrlz

I agree. People shopping online and expecting their packages by Saturday or Monday are the reason that different warehouses stay open. My DH worked every Thanksgiving for years for this reason. Something to think about when people applaud stores for being closed while shopping online on Thanksgiving.

Sorry about the behind the scenes folks and delivery drivers but very happy for those who now get to enjoy the day with their family. Now about all those restaurant workers…tip BIG! .workers. . .Tip big!

Walgreens will be closing all location except for 24 hour ones.

I remember, years and years (and years 😳) ago everything was closed on Thanksgiving. Then Kmart had a like, one page ad in the news paper (ummm, it was this big book like thing without a binding that we received on our porch — weird, I know – but it had all the ads in it since there was no internet— again, weird I know) that Kmart was going to start their sale early and open their doors on Thanksgiving at like 4pm. There would be special sales just that night.

Apparently it did so well that the next year a couple other stores started doing it. Then a few more joined the queue. Then a few more wanted in on this new way to earn a few bucks, etc etc etc. Then came the push back where even though we like to buy the bargains we also like for people to have the day off for family! Corporate wasn’t about family though! Corporate is off for Thanksgiving! So the decline of stores being closed for Thanksgiving was a slow decline since people still shopped. Personally I feel that the killer of all that is allowing the sales of Black Friday to start on Thanksgiving. But that’s just my humble opinion.

And now you know Lisa’s side of the story
