Make Disney Parks Churro Bites at Home! (Official Disney Recipe)
In the mood to create some fun Disney magic at home?
Here’s a helpful family tip! Consider making Disney’s famous Churro Bites at home as a fun activity to do with the fam. The Disney Parks Blog recently released this easy recipe that promises to be super similar to the cinnamon-sugar treats served up in all Disney Parks around the globe!
My family recently made these homemade churros to review the recipe!
I’m pleased to say that these are fantastic tasting! The results are soft bites of fried dough heaven that are perfectly sweetened with cinnamon and sugar. We think they tasted very similar the real Disney churros for sure!
Was your Disney trip canceled or postponed due to quarantine?
My Hip2Save team member, Jami, is planning an entire Disney themed weekend at home and doing fun things like Disney crafts, making Mickey Mouse waffles, and of course, making these delicious churros. I think that’s a fun plan!
Hip Recipe Tips:
-
- You’ll need a pastry bag and star-shaped tip to make churros. I actually used my Wilton decorator tool and it worked great.
-
- I followed the Disney Parks Blog recipe pretty much exactly except I didn’t quite have enough vegetable oil and use a little coconut oil too. It worked great.
-
- For the frying oil, you’ll need a kitchen thermometer to let you know once the oil reaches 350 degrees. I used a frying/candy thermometer.
-
- You can eat these churros as is or serve a store-bought chocolate sauce on the side. I just made a quick homemade chocolate sauce by melting 1/2 cup chocolate chips and 1/2 teaspoon of coconut oil in the microwave for 30-second intervals.
-
- I have actually made these similar homemade churros using my air fryer and they crisped up on the outside while staying soft inside, so I’m thinking that is also an option here.
The process is fairly simple to make Churro bites!
The batter gets melted and mixed up on the stove and put into a cake decorating piping bag or in my case the decorating tool. Oil gets heated on the stove up to 350º F, and then you pipe small pieces of churro into the oil to fry. I found it easiest to pipe some and then use kitchen scissors to cut off the ends.
Once the churro dough pieces are golden brown, they are transferred to a paper towel to drain. I actually used a stainless drying rack on top of a cookie sheet to drain. Then you roll them in a cinnamon-sugar mixture to finish!
What a fun at-home activity!
These turned out so yummy and it sure was a fun way to hang out and spend time with the kids.
