We’re sharing the latest news on the Marinelli’s Apple Juice recall.

S. Martinelli & onlinepany has issued a recall of nearly 170,000 bottles of Apple Juice due to potential patulin contamination. Patulin is a colorless, toxic substance produced by mold. It’s onlinemonly found in rotting apples and apple products, some cheeses, and grains.

Consuming patulin can cause vomiting, diarrhea, stomach cramps, and ulcers. It can even potentially damage the DNA in some body cells, which is rather alarming!

Another concerning fact is that the pasteurization process does not remove patulin from foods. Thankfully, the FDA has a monitoring process designed to prevent patulin and other mycotoxins from entering our food supply.

According to the Food and Drug Administration, Martinelli & Co. initiated a voluntary recall of the apple juice on March 18. The recall was then upgraded to a Class II recall on April 22, meaning that exposure to the product could “cause temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences or where the probability of serious adverse health consequences is remote.”

Be sure to check your home for these little bottles of apple juice! The recalled bottles have a UPC of 0 41244 04102 2 and a best by date of December 5, 2026. They were sold in 28 states, which can be seen on the FDA’s website.
