Dunkin’ Will No Longer Charge Extra for Non-Dairy Milk
Dunkin’ recently announced that it will soon discontinue the practice of charging extra for its non-dairy milk alternatives. A spokesperson confirmed this news in an email to TODAY.online, stating:
Effective March 5, dairy alternatives will be standard options for Dunkin’ beverages at no additional cost to guests. This will allow guests visiting any Dunkin’ location to enjoy traditional dairy or alternative dairy options in any beverage without an additional charge.
Dunkin’ is following in the footsteps of Starbucks, which announced the end of plant-based upcharges last October. This decision followed a class action lawsuit alleging that the chain was discriminating against lactose-intolerant customers by charging extra for non-dairy milk. A similar class action lawsuit was filed against Dunkin’ in 2024.
According to the non-dairy milk advocacy group No Milk Tax, other chains like Dutch Bros, Tim Hortons, Scooter’s Coffee, and Panera Bread have also eliminated upcharges on alternative dairy options.
While the cost of plant-based alternatives varies by location, these options typically increase the price of each Dunkin’ drink by 50¢ to $1. So if you’re a regular Dunkin’ customer who orders non-dairy milk alternatives, you will definitely notice the savings when this change takes effect on March 5th!
