  I work as a middle school teacher and have kids of my own. A gift card for even $5 truly makes my day! Seriously, thank you to all who show a token of appreciation. On a side note, given that I work with middle school aged students, it is the handwritten notes from my students that I cherish the most! If your child is fond of any of his/her teachers, it is a great suggestion to go along with these cute gift card holders!

  5$ means a lot to them and if a few kiddos give them 5$ they have enough for a great day. i have many many teacher friends and volunteer a lot in the schools and they so appreciate being appreciated

  As a JH and HS teacher, I second the notes. Get a pack of cards from Dollar Tree and have your child write about a special memory from the year. No gift necessary. If you feel the need to get a gift, a favorite drink, candy, or a bath bomb is a great addition. At my school every class has a teacher and at least one aide as well as specials teachers (onlineputers, art, library, music, and pe). I know it isn’t necessary to get something for everyone, but I always feel guilty leaving them out as I feel that they often are so rather than big gifts for a few, we opt for smaller gifts for everyone. My son even loves to get the lunch ladies and his bus driver & monitor a little something! I always stress out with ideas, but try to remember it is the thought that counts. A teacher isn’t a teacher for the gifts or recognition!

  Absolutely!!! I teach high school math, and although I’m usually the favorite teacher of many of my students, I rarely get any gifts or tokens of appreciation. When I do, I appreciate them so much. Any cards or letters from students that I get I always save forever. 🙂

  I am with you (high school math). Seems like appreciation tails off after elementary school! So when I get any form of appreciation from a high schooler, I am so happy! And $5 is great – always the thought that counts! (I was giving elementary school teachers $25 gifts – wish I saw this posting then!!!)

  Yes! (Preschool teacher here) Anything that shows appreciation makes our day!

  On average, a $10 gift or card would be the top value of what I receive. Once in a very blue moon I’ll get $20.

  For private preschool, I thought average is $50. l gave $50 for Christmas, and thinking of $70 for teacher appreciation. The monthly tuition is $1800 for 3 year old, so I thought I have to gift more accordingly. Oh, I was worried that I was being too cheap because someone told me I should gift at least $100 to $200 for the main teacher.

  As everyone mentioned, I was also curious how much is a good amount without being cheap…or overly outdoing it. It’s good to have an idea and it is the thought that counts. But in my area, I think if we gave $5, it would be too low. Your at a private school paying $1800/mon for a 3yr old, I think whoever told you it should be at least $100 to $200 is right.
  I was an educator myself (kindergarten) and I’ve been given gifts such as a Tiffany & Co. love bracelet.
  My child now is 4yrs old and I pay $1100/mon, I’ve donated money to the school pot (dinner & spa treatment) $50 and will be giving each teacher (she has 4) starbucks gift cards $10/each….

  You should check your district’s policy. They might have a maximum amount so that it doesn’t look like you’re bribing a staff member. I usually do a nice little gift with a $20 gift card to Target. As a teacher of students from a low inonlinee area, a handmade card is always appreciated.

  My 7 year old daughter said her bus driver likes to drink coffee. So I got him a Dunkin’ Donuts gift card for $15.00. If he doesn’t like coffee he could always get plenty of donuts 🙂 The teachers I did amazon gift cards for $25.00. Both my kids had wonderful teachers, and I believe that makes all the difference.

  Our kindergarteners school is doing a graduation drive thru parade. They will hand out end of year stuff through a window. My middle schooler is having a book return on certain days so we will gift them that way. Maybe your school will do something similar.

    I work at a preschool. Think of it this way. $5 for dunkin or starbucks could get them a free cup of coffee. $10 to subway could get them a free lunch. You really don’t need to go over the top. We are absolutely thrilled just to see how excited your child is to show appreciation towards us! And remember because we tend to get little gifts year after year a $5 gift card might be put to more use than another coffee mug or another sign.

Was just wondering if in your area teachers preschool at a church and then elementary school the teachers fill out a paper favorite snack favorite candy favorite flower favorite gift card favorite drink schools supplies and monogram? Live in Florida. I have been giving giftcards to kindergarten teacher Halloween Thanksgiving Christmas Valentine’s day st. Patrick’s day Easter 25$ each and usually make a gift basket of items between 20-30$ with. Have never gotten A thank you ever in an email text or note or verbally. Now teacher appreciation week is onlineing and has the items them want each day skinny pop popcorn Lipton ice tea 50/50 and Publix chocolate covered pretzels, scotch laminating paper scotch heavy cutie packing take white card stock list goes on and on I know teachers do slot and they are appreciated but I paid a fee at the Beginning Of the school year For school supplies plus bought the school supplies And it’s hard to purchase all this stuff but you want your child Child might not be treated as well Song Parents might feel there child might not be treated as well as someone who can afford all this. Just wondering if anyone one else has this going on there school?

  How about just a thank you note to them? I give Christmas gifts every year but then at the end of the year I write thank you notes. I sometimes get thank you cards for the gifts but not the notes. I know they’re appreciated though!

    And one preschool teacher said no mugs or cups of any kind or candles on her paper. I want my child to learn to give to people and appreciate people but giving A gift should be what the gift giver wants to give. Believe me I support teachers. I just thought this is over the top! IMO

  Hi Jen! I do see an eGift card option on their site here, if you wanted to check that out. It looks like you can opt for email or text. If you wanted to print it yourself, you might enter your email instead of the teacher’s to do this. 🥰
