Do you wanna build a snowman…DIY edition?

We are breaking down how to turn a clear shatter-proof ball ornament into a CUTE & EASY snowman to hang on the Christmas tree! This is such a fun craft to make with the kids. These DIY snowman ornaments will light up your holiday decorations, and they’re so stinkin’ adorable!

The best part is most of the supplies can be found at the Dollar Store. This includes clear fillable ornaments and faux snow. You’ll also need pipe cleaners, which you can use for other crafts, too! If you want to make multiple ornaments, I suggest heading to Michaels where you can score a pack of 25 clear ornaments for just under $10 – score!

Hip Tip: Have extra clear ornaments on hand? It would be really cute to get brown shredded paper to make some reindeer ornaments, too!

If you have little ones who would make a mess with the fake snow, you can also improvise with other craft materials such as cotton balls, white tinsel, shredded paper, mini marshmallows, salt, or anything else. You can even grab additional decorations to jazz up these ornaments further!

Hip Tip: If you’re experiencing any static when inserting the faux snow, try using a funnel to get the job done.

Directions

1

Open the top of the ornament and carefully pour faux snow inside. Place the top back on.

2

Twist together two pipe cleaners of different colors and glue them to the top half of the ornament.

3

Glue poms on both sides as “earmuffs”.

4

Glue on eyes. Then attach nose and mouth details. I cut the nose from orange adhesive vinyl, and used a hole punch to cut circles with black adhesive vinyl for the mouth.

We have made these, they turned out great. Kinda messy with the styrofoam. I have also used silver tinsel to put in the baubles. Less messy and still looks great.

What kind of glue did you use?

Oh cute! Honestly I just cut it by hand (a triangle) from small scrap piece. Great idea on the marshmallows!
