Know a Starbucks fan?

Here’s how to easily decorate cupcakes to look like a cute latte! You could use this trick to decorate store bought cupcakes or bake your favorite cupcake flavor. How yummy would pumpkin spice flavored cupcakes be for these?!

Just top white frosted cupcakes with drizzled caramel or chocolate sauce.  Then add a coffee sleeve and finish with green straw to make an adorable latte looking treat.

These were made by a talented friend of mine for another coffee obsessed friend of ours to celebrate her birthday. She LOVED them and it made her feel so special. I also love this idea for a teacher breakfast, baby or wedding shower, or really to spoil anyone who is a Starbucks fan!

How cute are those! 😍I’m not that coffee obsessed but I just may have to make them. Thank you for the suggestion!

    • Lina (Hip's Modern Martha)

      Sure! Thanks Jane 👍

  2. jac

Adorable, and the coffee-spiked chocolate cake recipe from a few days ago would be the perfect recipe for these!

    • Lina (Hip's Modern Martha)

      I agree! Yum ☕️

I’m all for couponing and saving money, but technically, that can be considered stealing.

      Seriously? How about free advertising???

    how cute !!!!!

Sounds like a lot of excessive waste. I’ll stick to cupcakes topped with “dirt and worms”

    • Sandra McBride

Really?? I guess you’re able to confirm that it’s excessive waste and not recycling of materials? I thought it was a really clever way to recycle when I saw the post – plastic containers can be washed and the cup holders can be used later for hot drinks. Silly me, I guess! 🙂

      • Another Michelle

I feel you are right, Sandra. It is a matter of choice and perspective. Not everything is doom, gloom and destruction 😉 We can preserve our beautiful planet AND have fun!

I was thinking you could put some sort of nuts, peppermints, or other snack in the plastic cup at the bottom(tape it shut, of course) and it could be a perfect sweet/salty party treat. You wouldn’t even have to serve chips or anything else and it wouldn’t be that wasteful if you saved up your own liners from Starbucks. I love this idea, thanks Lina!

I think it’s a little silly to be concerned about “excessive waste”–it’s a one-time treat for someone’s birthday or something. But if you’re worried about waste, you could probably modify this…maybe bake white cake in white cupcake liners, and then the chocolate cake in white liners. Stack a decorated chocolate one on top of a white one, stick a long green straw all the way through both (this will help hold them upright but of course also will serve as the straw for design purposes), and then put the sleeve on in the middle, hiding the “seam” between the two cupcakes. Whether you frost the white one is up to you. Then the bottom would look white like a real Starbucks cup, and the top could still be decorated like it is shown here, and there would be no wasted plastic materials. It might even look more realistic than this version. My teen daughter is totally getting these for her birthday this year!

Pointing out that it’s a one-time treat it’s a really good point! No different than all the wrapping paper and decorations we buy and throw away after the party.

If you ask Starbuck’s for “taster” cups, they are happy to share. Bake cupcakes directly in the cups or place a cupcake liners in before the batter. frost with some nice frosting and drizzle with chocolate. Straws can be cut in four pieces and placed in each cupcake. I did this for a HouseParty.
