We sure love our teachers!

Teacher Appreciation Week is upon us, which is usually a time when students and parents give gifts or notes to their beloved teachers in appreciation of all they do. However, one teacher reversed the roles and went out of her way to let her students know how much they’re missed and loved. ❤️

“My 7-year-old daughter absolutely adores her 1st grade teacher, Mrs. Hall. As much as she loves our home and family, there were days when she didn’t want to be picked up from school… cause she’d rather be with Mrs. Hall. It’s so obvious to hear and see the delight in her whenever we talk about Mrs. Hall.

As a parent, I agree; I could easily feel what a wonderful teacher Mrs. Hall is. She’s soft-spoken and so kind to students and parents. She is accessible and responsive. And during this quarantine, she reached out to the students, showing again her love for them.

She visited all 30 students, one by one, and adhered to social distance guidelines. She got gifts for all the students: a customized T-shirt, a ring pop, a bracelet (made by her daughter), and a hand-written card.

On her visits, she wore her customized T-shirt that reads “I Miss My Students.” The gift T-shirts she gave to her students read “Mrs. Hall Misses Me.” I can’t believe Mrs. Hall designed and ordered 31 T-shirts, wrote 30 cards, had her daughter make 30 bracelets, bought 30 ring pops, arranged 30 gift bags, and made 30 visits.

Actually, I can believe Mrs. Hall did all this. She’s amazing, and we sure feel her love. We will be so sad if the students finish the rest of the school year at home. My daughter Bella misses Mrs. Hall so very much too. Bella wore her T-shirt at least 3 days straight before she let me wash it.”

Mrs. Hall deserves a Teacher Of The Year Award! 🏆

She sounds like an amazing teacher and person. Thank you, Kay, for sharing this heartwarming story with us!

And to all you awesome teachers & educators out there, thank YOU, thank YOU, thank YOU! We sure do appreciate all that you do for our families, now more than ever. ❤️

I have been brainstorming on what to do for my kids teachers this year. Any ideas. I would prob have to drop off and leave on porch.

    • Angie M.

Maybe a homemade gift basket with like some simple spa at home little gifts & with some home baked goodies too?

    • Jackie

Our teacher left a goody bag with a can of soda, note pads, color pens, lollipops and a bingo card. They all did zoom bingo and she gave 5 winners a gift card. It was a hit! I honestly think that no matter what you leave the kids they will love it. It’s just an amazing gesture and that’s all that matters.

    • Nicole

You can send gift cards to emails. Ecards to Amazon is what my child’s teachers are getting.

We made “Teacher Appreciation homework packets” for my kids teachers. For the specials like music and PE, a ziploc with a bottle of water, crystal light, bag of popcorn, and snack sized candy. Their classroom teachers are getting a $5 giftcard to a local coffee shop, some chocolate, school supplies, etc. Debating making a word search with the classes students names on it. We will deliver to the ones we know where they live, ding, dong, ditch style. Others will be dropped off at school.

Please do petition to sponsor as a teacher’s recognition award. She truly deservesvit not only by her actions but how she made your daughter feel

    • Kay

Thanks for suggestion. Will share this post with the principal.

We can’t go to our children’s homes at all. It’s not allowed by our district. Makes me so sad.

    • SaverChick

I know it could get costly with the price of stamps but could you mail them a handwritten card–maybe with a onlinement about your favorite thing about them?

      • kellyfornia

I bought Dollar Tree cards for my students. I’m writing a little message to each of them and plan to drop them in the mail next week. Yes, the stamps are the most expensive part.
The t-shirt idea is super cute but it’s costly. I buy orange shirts (school color) for each of my students at Christmas and they’re like $4 + each then multiply by 25!! I sure wish I could buy and make these right now for my class.

        • Kay

I saw a post on here months ago that Dollar Tree had T-shirt’s. I never found any at my local stores though. Yes, for teachers, because u have to get 25-30 of everything, it does add up. But I luv it that when students give to teachers, like for birthdays n Christmas, it’s so fun for teachers to get showered with a variety of cards/gifts from all the students.

      • CJ

Our kid’s teacher made him flat Stanley dolls out of their Bitmojis of themselves and mailed the “Flat Mrs Jones” and “Flat Miss Terry”! Then they include that in their assignments. Like the kids have to write three sentences every day about what Flat Mrs Jones did at our house everyday! It’s so cute!!

    • Lisa

      Can you mail?

What an amazing teacher! I’m sure her students will always remember her.

  8. a teacher

This is lovely! I think it’s nice that this teacher was able to do this.
I do wish all parents would realize that their children’s teachers love their students to pieces and are doing all they can to support school families at this time. Many, many, many of us cannot afford to send packages, buy yard signs, and a number of these things that a few teachers we see on social media are doing. Some of our students live in unsafe neighborhoods. Some teachers are older and/or have underlying health factors and need to stay Safer at Home or are just more onlinefortable not being around others right now–even at a six foot distance. I truly hope parents aren’t seeing these acts and thinking, “Why isn’t my child’s teacher doing that?” Teachers are working harder than ever to learn new technology, onlinee up with new ways of teaching material, and finding and creating ways to keep kids engaged and socializing with each other at this time.

    • Kay

Very good points. Agree with all of them. I do believe that teachers constantly think of all their students n their welfare. Not all teachers have the money, time, health, or other means to show the depth of their love. I felt bad Mrs Hall spent so much money. I’m sure students n parents understand if their teachers r not able to reach out in ways that other teachers do. Their love is still felt.

This made me cry! Just lovely.

    • Kay

I shared this link with Mrs Hall. She left a voicemail that she cried while reading this post. She was so appreciative. It made me cry listening to her voicemail.

Off topic, Amazon has Water Beads 50,000 Soft Beads Rainbow Mix Water Growing Balls for Kids for $10.99! This is a great way to keep your kids busy for hours.

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

How fun! Thanks for the suggestion, J!

My husband wanted to do this for his class, but we just couldn’t afford it between the shirts, vinyl and postage. ☹️ We made them cardstock animals to read to instead.

    • Jennifer (Hip Sidekick)

Jennifer that is so sweet! I think that is very special and I bet the students loved it! Keep doing what you are doing! We appreciate you!

    • ProudMama

Our daughter received a postcard during the first couple of weeks after the school closure & a book the following week from her teacher, We lived it & was beyond surprised & thankful of her thoughtfulness. Personally, I think a personalized video to the child would be much more memorable for the child than a physical object. Yes, the child can keep that object forever, but videos can be saved too. Just as we value videos of our loved ones, a message from our teachers would also have the same value. This might be an option for some educators that want to express their love & missing of their students without having to spend a lot of money to show it. Thank you to all the educators for loving our children❣️

      • Amy W

What a beautiful idea! I’m a teacher and I’ve been struggling with the cost and drop off of items. I’m going to do this for sure!
