   I have the one that hip2save posted from amazon.online and its amazing I wouldn’t use anything else going forward for cutting pineapples.

   but don’t throw away the core! The core contains an enzyme called bromelain, which has anti-inflammatory and digestive properties and pinapple is the only natural occurring source

  The core is great in smoothies. Freeze any extras in a ziplock bag.

  Freeze and use as cooler in punches. Use in meat marinades as a tenderizer. Put in food blender with your favorite fruit smoothies ingredients to cover the gritty texture. Place meat tenderizer on insect bite and cover with frozen slice of core—brimelain in both.

   Got one at Aldis years ago and love it. Still going strong. They always offer their pineapples for great prices and they’re delicious but cutting them, while not impossible, is a chore. Not with this, it cores and peels and slices in spirals!

   My husband “invented” a recipe. You begin by using this gadget and going most of the way to down (about 85% of the way down). He then takes the pineapple out, but leaves the base on the pineapple in tact (so it’s a big hollowed out cup or tall bowl). He then makes a sweet and sour rice dish with red peppers and chunked pineapples and fills the “bowl” with it. Sitting in the pineapple skins lets the juices from the pineapple infuse the rice mixture and not only does it look festive but tastes out of this world!!!

   I bought one the other day and man if you don’t have it get it me and my kid ate the whole pineapple once cut and our pineapples are 99 cents right now so I got my second pineapple yesterday I’m trying to figure out what’s good and what’s not from there because I haven’t liked any of there chips and I bought the fit active ice cream and it was real bad it’s worth going for some things but it’s hard to stop multiple places with a toddler

    I got one of these last summer and it just sits in the drawer. My kids prefer when I cut the pineapple into sticks or chunks instead. I didn’t know about the core, we just usually gnaw around the hard part, so I’ll start saving it for smoothies.

    My mom is from Panama and makes a drink, Chicha de Arroz con Piña, from the peelings and core.
    You place the peelings and core in a pan. Add enough water to cover it. Add about 1/4 to 1/2 cup of rice. Add cinnamon sticks. Boil this for 30-40 minutes. Let it cool in the pan. Squeeze the peels to release all of the juice and remove from the pan. Place the contents of the pan into a blender. Once it is liquefied, transfer to a container to cool in the refrigerator. You can add sugar to taste as well as a touch of vanilla.

    This is a great gadget to have. Although I think you’re better off not cutting off the bottom. I cut the top off and spin the cutter into the pineapple. When close to the bottom I give a pull and the pineapple onlinees out loaded on the cutter. I can then scrape the sides for crushed pineapple ice cubes and get the juice that onlinees out from the slices.
    Also worth noting I think is pineapple freezes well. When in season I’ll slice up several and seal in food saver bags to use later. I divide by portions that’ll suit my needs. For example 3 slices for a smoothie, 4 slices for pineapple chicken, 6 slices for a baked ham and so on.

    I bought mine from Aldi a few years ago for the heck of it after I had seen more expensive ones at other stores. I was skeptical and wasn’t sure if it would work or if I’d ever use it, but for the price I gave it a try. I don’t buy fresh pineapple often, but for when I do, it’s a great gadget to have.
