Check out this awesome pen pal opportunity for your classroom! WeAreTeachers and the United States Postal Service have teamed up to bring The USPS Pen Pal Project all over the country for the 2021-2022 school year!
The USPS Pen Pals program will bring together 25,000 third-fifth grade classrooms around the United States to write 1 million letters with the goal of fostering friendships! And each participating classroom will score their very own Pen Pal Kit with onlineplete with envelopes, cards, and a teaching poster.

If you’re a 3rd-5th grade teacher, here’s how to participate in the project:
- Head on over to the WeAreTeachers website.
- Select the “Join Now” button, which takes you down to the online form where you can enter your info.
- Enter your first and last name, your school email address, the grade level you teach, your estimated class size, how many classes you teach, and your zip code.
- After entering your zip code, select your school, and then “Join Now.”
WeAreTeachers does have a few rules to ensure that everyone has a fun & safe experience, notably that “by registering their class in The USPS Pen Pal Project, teachers agree that they have received the proper permission based on their district’s guidelines from their principal or administration.”
Teachers are also responsible for informing each student’s parents about the Pen Pal Project and obtaining their permission for their child to participate.
