Curious about any of the latest TikTok makeup trends?

So many TikTok makeup hacks are available at the swipe of a finger, but where do you start? Which ones actually look good on you? We may be a little lost in the endless scroll, too. 😅

However, with a quick dive into the most popular trends, we’re trying all the latest hacks and seeing which are the ultimate beauty do’s and don’t’s!

Here are some TikTok makeup trends we’ve tried, and our honest thoughts:

1. Make your foundation/face makeup last all day by rearranging the order you use products.

Changing your entire face makeup routine thanks to this TikTok makeup hack is going to blow your mind! This order may sound strange, but I promise it works. I can’t do my makeup any other way except the following steps. If you have oily skin like me, I’d add more powder at the end of the T-zone!

Here’s what you have to do:

  1. Apply your moisturizer and let it dry.
  2. Lock in the moisturizer by putting on a coat of translucent powder (trust the process!).
  3. Spray some setting spray, and wait for it to dry.
  4. Apply your foundation primer.
  5. Apply your concealer, foundation, and other products as normal.

The picture above is after I followed all these steps and with no filter! Yes, my makeup really looks that good. 🤩 I follow these steps every time I’m wearing full coverage, and it’s never failed me!

Here’s the original TikTok video, but note of caution: some explicit language is used in the audio.

2. For more dramatic lower lashes, try Selena Gomez’s hack and use a tweezer!

Personally, I love Selena Gomez’s brand Rare Beauty and look forward to her short makeup tutorials on TikTok. She did a hack where she put on a coat of mascara on her bottom lashes then used her tweezers to add some mascara onto them and clump the lashes together. “Clumping” is usually never a good word when it’s followed by lashes, except for now.

The way I immediately ran to get my tweezers to try this is unreal! It makes your lashes more visible while making your eyes pop! Think of the 1960s when lower lashes were all the rave. This method makes your lashes look less dramatic than that, but you get the picture I’m painting. I showed my Hip sidekick Emily, and she was just as excited to try it!

Here’s the original TikTok video, but note of caution: some explicit language is used in the background music of the video.

Since it can be terrifying having your tweezers this close to your eye, slow and steady wins the race with this mascara process. If you’re up for the challenge, it’ll definitely pay off if you’re looking for some extra glam!

“This mascara hack is giving Twiggy. I’ll admit, I really thought I would poke my eyeball out, but it was actually pretty easy and not as messy as I imagined. It takes a few coats/squeezes to get the mascara to really stick, or maybe this is a sign I need a fresh tube. 😂 Full transparency, I almost never wear mascara on my lower lashes, but I could see myself giving this another go when I want that full-glam date night look. – Emily

3. Can you really use a spoon to curl your lashes?!

We’ve seen a few users curling their lashes with a spoon instead of an eyelash curler. As crazy as this sounds, I actually used to do this in high school before I actually purchased a curler. 😂 Going into it, I already know this process is way more difficult than it’s worth, but I will still give it another chance!

The TikTok video shows that you basically put the spoon to your eye and use your thumb to “brush” your lashes against the spoon, causing the lashes to curl…allegedly!

My right lashes are from the spoon and the left is from a regular eyelash curler. I mean, it does actually look pretty good, but they pretty much look the same. Plus, the spoon is waaay more difficult to navigate.

In conclusion, I’m definitely sticking with my handy eyelash curler! 😂

4. Use white eyeliner and put some dots around your eyes to make them pop.

White Eyeliner TikTok Beauty Hack before and after

I know how this sounds, but it’s truly all the rave on Tiktok, and for good reason. You use white liquid eyeliner and put four dots surrounding different areas of your eye: inner corner, wing, right above the eyelid, and right under the lower lash line. If that sounds like too much, try only putting two or even one on the inner corner.

I promise you will be getting onlinepliments everywhere you go!! Even if you don’t wear a ton of makeup, this is so flattering for everyone, and it really onlinepliments your face.

I had my Hip teammate Sara give this a try. She remained open-minded, which I’m so happy about because she rocked this look! I told her to snag an NYX White Liquid Eyeliner, which is the same one I use. I’ve also bought a pack of face gems, and sometimes use the gems in place of the white eyeliner for an extra pop!

“I am verrrrry minimalist when it onlinees to my makeup so knowing what to do when I want to feel a little extra is tough. I love how simple this white eyeliner hack is. Although I wouldn’t do it on a regular basis, it’s such a fun festival look or for a concert.

I’m in my 30’s so I found the white dot smeared a little in the crease of my undereye. Next time, I will totally be trying some cute gems to avoid that. Such a fun, quick, and most importantly EASY makeup hack!” – Sara

5. Let’s see if your lash curler can give you the ultimate cut crease.

Hip2Savers…do you have any idea how many times I’ve attempted a cut crease and failed miserably?! Too many to count without getting embarrassed. This TikTok video from LenKalul popped up on my FYP, and it seemed easy enough to give a try. However, easy in the beauty onlinemunity is never actually easy, is it? 😅

This TikToker uses an eyelash curler as a guide to outline a cut crease on her eye. This may not work on every eye shape, but it’s worth a try.

Just kidding…😳

This was definitely not as easy as it looked, and, clearly, I did not do a good job. 😂  Not only did my eyes onlinee out differently, but, for me, it wasn’t easy or flattering! I may give this another shot in the future, but, in the meantime, this hack was definitely a flop for me.

6. Brow liner, blush, and gloss equal the perfect lip onlinebo..?

blush eyebrow pencil and lip gloss

According to this TikTok user Kenzie B (who has some infectiously positive energy) your eyebrow liner, blush in the center, and gloss will give you the perfect lip color. We just knew we had to try this! My Hip teammate Emily pictured above tried this hack, and she looks amazing!

Sure, it may sound a little more troublesome than your typical lipstick or gloss onlinebo, but it paid off! Emily mentioned her brow pencil is on the lighter side, but, along with the blush, it really was the perfect color. If you have a darker brow color, the results will likely be darker. Either way, we’re loving it!

“While you can obviously use a true lip liner, I love this eyebrow pencil lining hack since it’s one less thing I need to buy and keep in my makeup bag. I used a more subtle brown liner and loved the effect. (Note: this will have different results based on the color liner you use). I was shocked at how well the blush tip worked, too! I also tried this with a pink gloss and it made the liner less noticeable while still giving definition to my lips. I don’t rock a full lip look often, but I will 100% be doing this hack again!” – Emily

My other Hip teammate Chelsey does something similar, but she uses a onlinebination of the NYX soft matte lip cream (10/10 reonlinemend), a MAC lip liner in Whirl, and any clear gloss (if you like a little shine). This is pretty much the normal lip onlinebo version of this TikTok. She absolutely loves the way this looks, and so do we!

“If you aren’t lining your lips IMO you’re missing out! And don’t worry, it doesn’t scream 90’s if you use the perfect nudes/ neutral colors, it just gives the lips awesome 3D shape, texture, and color, and really makes the lips POP. I discovered this trick about 3 months ago and it’s the only way I wear my lips now! 😍 I LOVE IT!” – Chelsey

The bottom line?

Different strokes for different folks! The makeup tricks I like on my face might not be your cup of tea, but it’s all in good fun! I definitely reonlinemend trying these to see what does and doesn’t fit your vibe. Either way, I’m sure you all look fabulous, even if these make you feel a little silly. 🤪

I don’t have Tik Tok, but would love to see what Lina would onlinee up with for a segment on cooking hacks that work. I’d love to learn more things about genius hacks for everyday household things and such too. I know I could easily join myself, but you are all wonderful about testing things out. The tomato feta pasta you posted years ago I still use.

Hey Sue! I’ll be sure to pass along your suggestion to Lina. In the mean-time, you can check out all of the tips, tricks, and recipes she’s shared here. Hoping this is helpful! 🥰

      • Sue

Thank you! I have checked out many of her recipes. I’d love to find easier ways to prep foods and easy cooking ideas for someone who can’t stand for long periods of time, but budget friendly too. (A tall order, I know.)

I didn’t know women in the 30s wore face gems. 🧐 I thought that was junior high/high school fad. That’s something I learned from the article. 🙂

Has anyone used Vaseline on eyelashes? I heard about this earlier this week, but I’m hesitant to try because if that starts to melt and get in your eyes, wouldn’t it hurt? Anyone know?
