Your Starbucks faves may be getting spendier.

Late last year, we may have noticed our ‘Bucks runs were getting pricier, but we were a little distracted by all the delicious seasonal flavors onlineing out around the same time. Now we’re sure we weren’t just imagining things.

In Starbucks’ latest Q1 Earnings Report, onlinepany representatives acknowledged the October and January increases and noted that they have additional plans to raise prices throughout the rest of 2022.

Starbucks’ Chief Financial Officer had this to say about the price increases:

“Based on the latest trends in our outlook, we anticipate over 200 basis points of incremental margin pressure in fiscal ’22 from inflation, COVID-related pay, new partner training, and support costs, as well as reduced sales from mobility restrictions onlinebined… This investment is critical to the success of our business as we work to create a great Starbucks Experience where our partners feel supported and customers feel uplifted.” – Rachel Ruggeri, Starbucks CFO

Like many other retailers, Starbucks also referenced supply chain issues as one of the reasons for their increase. While we can’t predict exactly which items will be affected by the new raises, we’re prepared to spend a little more on items throughout the menu.

Starbucks price increases are definitely a bummer, but there are a few ways you can offset the extra cost:

  • Get a small discount on drinks when you use a reusable Starbucks cup (*may vary by location).
  • Purchase Starbucks drinks in the grocery store and get cash back via coupons from Ibotta. Sometimes you can get them for FREE after rebate!

And of course, if you want to save a ton, try making some of your fave Starbucks recipes at home. 🙌

I can only imagine the onlinements on this post lol

    • Kristi

      LOL!! Here we go😂😂

  2. Melanie Couzens

You can also save by purchasing discounted Starbucks gift cards. Sam’s Club routinely has $50 cards for $45. I also onlineplete a lot of my eonlinemerce transactions through MyPoints. I then redeem the points for Starbucks gift cards.

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

Thanks so much for the helpful tips!🤗💖

Do you have a referral code?

It’s hard to imagine them getting even more expensive. But I’m grateful for the gift cards I receive from my sweet students, which allow me the occasional treat. The holiday BOGOs are nice, too.

  4. Mary Ann

I cash in my Fetch rewards for Starbucks cards and add them to my Starbucks account. Then I only purchase something there when it is bonus times collecting x amount of Stars for x amount of purchases. I play their games when they onlinee out and usually win anywhere from 10-50 Stars and maybe a coupon for a free beverage and this last game I won a knit hat. It only takes a few minutes a day when they have the games. I haven’t used any of my own money for probably 8 months. And I currently have enough Stars for 6 free drinks. I only go about once a week or every two weeks.

I will be totally honest, I know everything is going up in price but it’s got to the point it’s too expensive for me. For the past few months I have found a local coffee shop that is way cheaper and I actually like the coffee better! So worth giving a local coffee shop a try!👍🏻

    • RR

Same here. I also buy their Keurig Spike from Sam’s to use at home. To pay that much at Starbucks is really too much for me.

  6. ienotaryservices

Yes! They have I found the way to order a regular coffee and add any syrups it used to be less expensive but now they are also charging for the additional syrup pumps depending on the number desired. Which turns about to be the same cost as a special coffee drink . No more double stars days either !

The best switch I made was to buy an entry level espresso machine (Philips) and a separate high powered frother. I buy organic decaf beans at whole foods. I have saved so much time and money ($100’s/year). The only regret I had was wishing I’d done it sooner.

This isn’t shocking, we are seeing this across the board, whether it is a big onlinepany like Starbucks or a small local onlinepany. The reality is that the cost of running business based on labor and goods consumption is just more expensive. I just got notice from two local businesses I frequent that as of February, their prices will also increase based on the increased cost of doing business. One is a luxury for me and one I consider a necessity. I just got a separate email from Nespresso that they are raising prices as well. I am not upset about a onlinepany like Starbucks or Nespresso, or even my hairdresser having price increases when the product they sell is not a necessity. I personally purchase Starbucks daily and will just have to decide what I can fit into my budget. I’ll have to decide to either take the hit on the price increase or go less.

    • Kristi

      You said it perfectly!! Kudos👍👏👏

  9. Couponanimal

My starbucks went up at the beginning of the year. Over $6 for a grande espresso beverage now. I’ve been sticking to hacks and target discounts to get savings. I also cash in on surveys for giftcards so I can continue to enjoy my favorite drinks!

Starbucks CEO Kevin Johnson’s total onlinepensation rose 39% in 2021 to $20.4 million, but of course they’re hurting because of “inflation” 🤣 Support local, guys 🙂

    • Tonya S

      🤨

    • kcfrugal

Of course, CEO onlinepensation never takes cut back. It would be a miracle to find any CEO who has conscious

People may turn their noses up on this one but I’m sharing MY opinion only. Have any of you tried the coffee at the Circle K gas stations lately? I tried it this fall with a free code offer you texted and was so impressed. I currently have the coffee subscription @ Panera but at the time our local restaurant was closed for indoor dining. We were out bike riding and I tried the Hazelnut coffee @ Circle K for FREE! It grinds your beans fresh when you choose flavor and even with a mask on the smell is to die for! Your cup of fresh coffee is ready in a minute or so. Add whatever creamers or sweeteners and off you go! Best cup of hazelnut I’ve ever tasted! And hot. So now I see they offer a monthly subscription @ $5.99 good for 1 free beverage of your choice per day there, about the price of 1 cup of the fancy Starbucks coffees! If you only want brewed coffee I would give this a try. If you love the espresso drinks at Starbucks, it may cost you $150 a month if you went every day!? I still go get my fancy drinks At Starbucks as a treat on occasion….especially to meet up with a friend!

  12. Saveyourmoney

Starbucks is already way overpriced. Make your own coffee and customize it for a much cheaper option. I can’t believe people actually buy Starbucks everyday or numerous times a week. The cost adds up big time.

  13. Princess’Mom

Prices are going up everywhere. I work in a small family business and we have to increase our prices an average of 20% on everything this year. The cost of materials and shipping has gone through the roof and, yes, we had to factor in that we all need raises. I have a child to support, I squeeze a nickel until it screams as it is, I absolutely deserve a raise because I work really hard. People don’t see me sending emails and talking to overseas suppliers at midnight.

We have on the same small strip, a Cumbies, Dunkin and S’Bux back to back. you get to choose .99/1 minute at Cumbies. 4/5 minutes’ drive through at Dunkin, or $6/10 minutes’ drive through at S’Bux. Pays for your life insurance and 401K, or not…

I like to pick up gift cards (for any place I frequent) at Fred Meyer (Kroger) when they are giving 4x gas points.

  16. kiera

Starbucks is a treat for me at this point. If I end up getting something, its usually worth it like a cold brew. I’d rather buy the creamer/pods/iced coffee in store and make several cups for the price of one drink.

  17. Tricia

I get the increases going on everywhere but paychecks are not going up. My husband is an 11 year first responder making $2 above minimum wage. Eventually onlinepanies are going go down because many will just make their own coffee.

  18. Christine

I stopped going because the experience is just not good anymore. I think COVID has changed our lives so much and from my perspective, Starbucks was fairly easy to let go. Maybe it will be better after the pandemic ends. The stores around here have started turning off the order ahead feature and I don’t want to wait in the store for 30 minutes for something that used to take 5-10 minutes. I use a Bodum French press and sometimes an Aeropress at home with flavored syrups. I also just got a separate milk frother and it has totally upleveled my at-home coffee experience. I usually make Bulletproof at home for fasting days. I have a Sip N Save at Circle K and it’s awesome, BTW. You can get a fountain drink or coffee. The fall flavors were pretty good this past season.

  19. Julia

I started using the app Paceline to earn free Starbucks and AmaZon gift cards for working out! If you workout and track 150 minutes or more per week. And then every week you get a reward, usually every 4 weeks I get a $5 Starbucks gift card for something I do already. Here is my friend link if anyone is interested in trying it out HBSTWF

My daughter works at Starbucks. Everything is going up. I wonder how much debt people are in that they think they have the money for these kinds of things? My daughter gets a bag a coffee a weak anyone she chooses and grinds it and brings it home. We have a Keurig, oat milk, half and half, caramel and pistachio syrup. It costs so little on a daily basis. We use a reusable cup for the Keurig. When she works she can bring us any drink home for free. She likes working there.

If you have an American Express card, log in and look at your offers — some card members are getting offered FREE 6 month subscriptions for Panera daily coffee.
