I’m so excited to try these. I’m attending a cookie exchange on Weds and didn’t know what to bring. I’m so bored with my standard recipes.

    • Lina D

Oh how fun! Enjoy Rochelle! 🙂

  2. SquishyShelli

  3. DealAddict

Have you tried these (or any cookies) with gluten free flour? It’s my 1st gf Xmas & I hate to miss out on all the goodies

    • K

I’ve been told by many people that the brand Cup4Cup gf flour is amazing. They say you can’t tell the difference. I’m gf(thyroid issues)and getting ready to order some.

    • Mindy

I LOVE the King Arthur measure for measure gluten free flour! I do a straight substitution in regular recipes. I really love all of the King Arthur gluten free products, much less gritty and dense than others

      • Lina D

        Thanks for sharing!

      • Marcia

If you are Celiac you will need to use certified gf oats also. We use Bob Red Mill

      • Beth

I LOVE their pancake mix! It can also be used in the waffle iron. Sooo yummy. We are not a GF family but found it for a great deal so we tried it. My husband who is kinda picky about his waffles said they are the best waffles he’s ever had!

    • CarrieB

When baking GF watch out for sorghum flour. It has a gritty texture and unpleasant taste. Millet flour works well in sweet recipes. I normally mix it with rice flour, tapioca flour, and potato starch. Sometimes you can make your own GF flour mixture a lot cheaper than the name brands 😊. Happy baking to you!

      • Lina D

        Thanks for sharing!

    • Dee

My first Christmas gf too after a very recent celiac diagnosis – so happy to see these onlinements. i’m sure similar ones were always there but i’m now hyper tuned into it. i saw the recipe and it looked yummy and i was thinking i wonder how it will be with gf ingreds.

    • Mommyof71987

My first GF and DF Christmas too…..I love Bob’s red mill 1 to 1 flour as well to substitute in baking. Have a Merry Christmas!

    • Cressie

I’ve used Better Batter flour (GF) . They also sell some other GF products as well. They are a small, family owned business.

  6. Cindy

If used vegan caramel chips how much different would the taste be from salted caramel chips? Could I make those salted?? Lol. Want to try but need dairy free

    • Lina D

  7. kahila

Hi i am wondering so the cookies after sometime taste and texture same I mean for me it became dry and hard 😔😔my kids didn’t like it.
    Plz share some tips .
    Thanks girls

    • Mandi Trefcer

If you have cookies that beonlinee hard, put a slice of bread into the bag or container with the cookies for a few hours or even overnight. The cookies will return to a nice moist and chewy texture.

      • Lina D

Thanks for the tip! Great idea.

    • Lexy

When you store them add on a sliced apple to keep its moisture

      • Lina D

        Great tip thanks!

  10. Jen

  18. Sara

  19. SM

Can’t wait to try these. Thank you!

  20. Lina D

Yes thanks for catching that! fixed.

  21. riss

Do you think I can use Apple sauce in place of egg? My son has egg allergy.

    • Lina D

I haven’t tried that personally, but seems like a popular baking substitution online! I think it’s worth a try. I know a lot of our readers have reonlinemended this substitution — tablespoon ground flax seed mixed with 3 tablespoons warm water; let stand 1 minute before using. Hope that helps!

    • Hellfire

If it’s an egg allergy to chicken eggs, have him tested to see if duck eggs are safe for him. Studies show that those allergic to chicken eggs can tolerate duck eggs.

      • riss

        Thank you both!

  22. Love from Munchkintime.online

Omg! These cookies look & sounds amazing! Planning to make them for my neighbors this year as a Christmas gift!

Last year I made Coconut Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookies https://www.munchkintime.online/coconut-oatmeal-chocolate-chip-cookies/ They were a crowd favorite!

This year I am going to try something new and this recipe sounds like I have found what I was looking for! Thank you for sharing!

    • Lina D

Oh yum! Sounds amazing – you’ll love these I think. Enjoy 👍🏻

  23. Mel R.

These look really good! And something different to bring to our family holiday party. My mom and I are the ‘dessert ladies’ LOL, so I am def gonna add these to cookie bar.

    • Lina D

Oh a cookie bar sounds amazing! Thanks Mel 👍🏻

  24. Danelle

I found the baking chips at Target today. Can’t wait to try them. We love a recipe that’s similar but calls for butterscotch chips.

    • Lina D

      Yay! Enjoy 😉

  25. Lisa

If you have a H y-Vee (Midwest kinda store), I just picked some up there.

  26. Thriftymama

My Walmart and albertsons have them in the seasonal baking usually. Hershey’s sea salt caramel chips are the ones I use 😊

  27. Dawn Hungate

    Do these freeze well?

  28. KMS

Has anyone made these yet? I’m about too tomorrow so was curious. Your recipes are great Lina but it’s always fun to read others opinions too.

    • Lina D

Oh sure! This recipe is actually Bryn – Collin’s sister’s favorite. It was submitted by her for me to try! So fun.

    • Elle

Yes! Made them the day this was posted lol. Making them again tonight. They were good. ☺️

  29. April

Is it 2 sticks of butter AND 1 cup? Or 2 sticks of butter, which makes 1 cup? I wanted to be sure 😅

    • Lina D

      just two sticks! Thanks 🙂

  30. MamaBear5

Hi, do you use the kosher salt both in the recipe and for topping after baking? Or is it regular salt for baking and the kosher for topping? Also, I had of butterscotch chips, that needed to be used. Hope it turns out good too!

  31. Amanda

These were delicious! I used the caramels but had to buy from Amazon, couldn’t find them at Kroger. Going to try again with salted caramel chips and a batch without because the cookies alone were YUMMY!

  32. rebecca

I had hoped to make these with our Christmas cookies, but couldn’t find the salted caramel chips and I finally found them at Walmart today! Cannot wait to try…hurry up and soften, butter! Thank you for the recipe, Lina! 🙂

    • Lina D

      Aw that great! Enjoy ❤️

  33. Lizchatwell

Will this make 3 dozen? 4?

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

      Made 36 cookies for me.

  34. Katie

I made these last night and everyone that has tried them has raved about them! This recipe needs a bump for this year. It’s definitely going into our cookie rotation. Thanks for another great recipe!!

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

Oh yay! That is so great!

  35. Sierra C

I’m not usually a fan of oatmeal cookies, but I made this to add variety to the cookies I’m giving my mom, who doesn’t eat chocolate. I gave it a try, and I’m blown away! Absolutely delicious, might be my new favorite cookie recipe!

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

Yay that’s so fun to hear! Thanks Sierra!

  36. Karliee

Could I use dulce de leche for this instead of Carmel chips? Or would it be to wet

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

Unsure- I think some type of chip like chocolate chips, caramel, or white chocolate would work better.

  37. Gaylan

These are my husband’s absolute favorite but I can’t find the salted caramel chips anymore. I’m going to try them with butterscotch chips next.

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

My kroger brand grocery store Fry’s has their brand I sometimes buy! But yes I think butterscotch would be amazing too!

  38. Kim Cash

These are some of our favorite cookies but we found they are much better with the mini Kraft caramel bits.

    • Jessica (Hip Sidekick)

Oh yum! Thanks for sharing what you like to add to yours, Kim! 🍪
