Need a fun treat to make with the kids? Try these simple yet delicious Oreo balls.

holding an Oreo cream cheese ball

It takes just 3 easy ingredients to make no-bake Oreo cookie balls!

I have a friend who makes Oreo balls during the holidays, and I had no idea they were so simple to make at home. It’s such a versatile recipe and you can use your favorite flavor of Oreos — there are a bunch now! With that, you can customize the sprinkles for various holidays too. These are cute and kind of remind me of cake pops, except Oreo balls are much easier to make in my opinion!

The result is a rich Oreo truffle-type dessert that is sinfully delicious! I love how the cream cheese mixed with the Oreo crumbs is soft with a sweet melted white candy melt outer layer. Pour yourself a glass of cold milk, and enjoy this treat!

lemon Oreo balls

I used traditional chocolate Oreos in the first batch I made, and they turned out delicious as expected. 😋 Next, I made a second batch using lemon-flavored Oreos, which are only available in the spring. Oh my goodness those are incredible. In fact, both my kids both said they loved the lemon Oreo balls the most!

I think experimenting with other flavors like birthday cake Oreos, or mint-flavored Oreos would be so fun as well. Beyond that, can you imagine how great Nutter Butter cookies would taste with this same idea?! Yum. 🤤

Tips for making Oreo balls with cream cheese:

  • I crush the Oreo cookies using my food processor. If you don’t have one maybe consider a blender, or using a plastic gallon bag and rolling pin to crush the cookies.
  • If you have a small cookie scoop, it will help make the task of scooping and rolling evenly shaped balls faster and more efficient.
  • Instead of dipping the Oreo balls into candy wafers like me, you can instead melt white chocolate chips, traditional chocolate chips, or chocolate bars.
  • I reserved a bit of the cookie crumbs to decorate my Oreo balls after dipping them in the candy melts. You can use sprinkles or drizzle melted chocolate chips as another idea. Making this is a festive seasonal treat with holiday-themed colors is an easy way to jazz up the recipe year-round!
  • My gluten-free Hip sidekick Emily says this recipe works just as well with gluten-free Oreos too. She makes them as a simple holiday treat at Christmas, and says Nabisco, Glutino, and even Great Value gluten-free cookies all work great!

Easy bite-sized desserts are the best, and Oreo balls are a winner!

My family really enjoys these and I know yours will too! One ball is pretty rich and all I can handle, but they store well in the fridge in a covered container for around a week or so, maybe even a few months in the freezer.

I make these but add a maraschino cherry in the center by forming the dough around it and then dip in milk chocolate. So good!
