Make Fun Hot Dog Spaghetti at Home With Your Kids!
Your kids will love this fun hot dog spaghetti idea!
Want to bring some excitement into your kitchen?! Hot dog spaghetti is a slightly goofy food trend that makes mealtime more fun and silly for kiddos.
My little ones LOVE this dinner idea and ask for it at least once a week. It’s easy to whip up and there are only 2 simple ingredients involved. The best part? Your kids will do most of the prep work for you!
This hot dog spaghetti recipe is so simple and your kids can help you make it!
All you need for this fun spaghetti recipe are hot dogs and spaghetti noodles. I like to use Oscar Meyer Uncured Bun-Length Weiners or Ballpark Bun Size Beef Franks because they provide 4 perfect bite-size pieces from each hot dog. Feel free to cut smaller pieces though if these are too big for your kids.
You’ll want to use a thick spaghetti noodle that won’t fall apart in the hot dog bites—my go-to brand is Rao’s Homemade Spaghetti Noodles because they’re nice and firm, but when I can’t find them at the store, I use Barilla Spaghetti Pasta.
How to make hot dog spaghetti:
Once you have your ingredients, boil a large pot of water and get ready to prep your hot dog noodle bites. This is the part that kids love!
After you’ve sliced your bun-length hot dogs into quarters, let your kids stuff them with the dry, uncooked noodles. We usually use 5 noodles per hot dog piece, but you can add more for a bigger portion.
Two hot dogs per bowl makes for the perfect portion for my kiddos, but you can use more or less depending on how much your kids eat. Now all you have to do is boil your spaghetti kebobs in a pot of water and they’ll be ready to gobble up in a few minutes!
It’s so easy to make hot dog spaghetti that I even created a video to show you the simple process…

Hip tips for making hot dog spaghetti:
- Add 1-2 tablespoons of oil to the boiling water to keep noodles from sticking together.
- Avoid over-stuffing the hot dog pieces so they have enough room to expand and cook evenly.
- Add your favorite seasonings, shredded cheese, or pasta sauce to jazz up your dish!

While your kids are making their hot dog and spaghetti bites, you can make your own adult version, too! I like to use kielbasa sausage instead of hot dogs and add in some tomato noodle skewers and cajun seasoning for a fancier version.
