Summer is here and it’s time to start grilling out! If you’re looking to make a fun snack or an easy side for a backyard BBQ, you’ll definitely want to give our grilled loaded french fries a try. The recipe is so easy to make and can be tweaked based on your favorite toppings!
Trust me, your hungry crowd will be asking for more. Grilled french fries are the perfect side dish for camping, tailgating, and/or just cooking at home on the grill. We love the classic loaded toppings like cheese, bacon, sour cream, and green onion, but that’s only the beginning!
You could jazz these up by cutting up some leftovers for a fresh take on dinner. Leftover pork with BBQ sauce would be a hearty meal. As another idea, cut up steak or chicken with peppers & onions to turn dinner into a fiesta!
Frozen french fries are the perfect base for any creative culinary creation! I even like to add a little chili to mine to create epic chili cheese fries! YUMMO!
Grilled Frozen Cheese Fries

total time: 35 MINUTES
Delicious and oh so cheesy fries make the perfect side dish for your backyard cookout!
Ingredients
- 1/2 of a 10 oz. bag of frozen French fries
- 1/4 cup or more cheddar cheese, shredded
- 2 green onions, chopped
- 1-2 tablespoons sour cream
- 2 tablespoons bacon bits, or crumbled bacon
Directions
1
Lay out a large piece of foil with the edges crumpled up around the sides. Brush or spray a little bit of oil onto the foil, fill with the frozen fries, and spray a bit more oil over the top.
2
Put another piece of foil over the top of the fries, leaving room for steam to escape at the top. Grill on medium-high heat with lid down for 20-30 minutes – be sure to rotate the foil packet halfway through. *If you don't have a grill, you could cook the foil packet in the oven at 425 degrees.
3
After 20-30 minutes, check to see if fries are brown and cooked to desired doneness (I like crispy fries!). Add shredded cheese and grill for another few minutes. Take off the grill and add sour cream, onions, and bacon. Serves about 3-4.
If you're serving a larger group, you may want to double or triple the amount of foil packet fries you grill.
Easy to make and easy to clean up!
As you can see, with just a few simple ingredients, you can make this yummy side dish or snack for your family! The best part? You can just toss away the foil for the easiest clean up ever — enjoy!
