Love chocolate covered bananas? 🍌🍫

Today I am sharing how to use sliced bananas, melted chocolate chips, and peanut butter in two ways! You can either make these as delicious individual chocolate-dipped banana bites, or use a sheet pan and create cracked frozen banana bark!

Both ideas are super easy to make, only require 3 ingredients, and can be kept in the freezer until you get a craving for a bite of something sweet and chocolatey. We originally shared the banana bites idea 6 years ago, and I am excited to highlight it again as the banana bark is super popular on TikTok and Instagram currently!

Watch me make the frozen banana bites below!

What a yummy treat to make with the kids!

I love how versatile this recipe is. You could even dip these bananas in colorful sprinkles for a festive touch (think birthdays or another fun occasion), or you could dip them in rolled or slivered nuts for a different approach. Even coconut would be so delicious. They are a little messy to onlinepile, and won’t turn out perfect, but they taste great!

Tips for making peanut butter banana bites or banana bark:

    • While I used regular Skippy peanut butter, you can use any nut variety or brand you like. Try switching things with almond butter, cashew butter, or swap out creamy blends for crunchy!
    • If you are finding that it is hard to spread the peanut butter, melt the peanut butter in the microwave for about 15-30 seconds and it will be easy to spread or pour over the bananas for the bark.
    • One reader stuck a pretzel in the middle of the bites for an added salty crunch—yum!
    • Consider adding chopped nuts to the melted chocolate at the end or salt.

These are similar to store-bought Reese’s banana slices!

If you have seen or bought this popular snack, the DIY version is easy and cheap to make. I think of them as similar to having a small bowl of ice cream, but it’s grab-and-go, portion-controlled, and so much better! Plus, since I can change up the peanut butter for Nutella or even a different nut butter, I can experiment with different flavors.

Next time I’m going to make a few batches to keep in the freezer because these went FAST! My family really enjoyed these chocolate-dipped peanut butter banana bites. I really think your crew will love these, too!

The frozen banana bark is so delicious too!

I will admit this form is easier to onlinepile in my opinion. It takes less time and is too much fun to break apart. My kids also loved this so much. It’s personal preference but try this way as well!

We have been doing this for years! We use almond butter, cashew butter, or even sunflower seed spread. And use dark chocolate YUMMY. Such a great snack when you’re craving something sweet.

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

      Yes! So delish!

    • George !!!

The Bananas would be too frozen to eat,, I Peel and Freeze all my ripe Bananas for smoothies and they are hard as an Ice Cube !!!

  2. Lisa

Are these hard when you take them out of freezer to eat? Like do they have to thaw a little or are the good to eat right away

    • aschme

I’m curious about that too if it’s something you let thaw out (for how long?) or if you just eat it right away? Would love to know too 🙂

      • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

I eat them frozen! So yum.

      • Elizabeth

They thaw pretty quick I have them with my coffee in the morning. I do Weight Watchers and they are low point low cal only I sliced my bananas thinner and froze them on a tray then I spread the nut butter on froze again then dipped in dark chocolate chips.
The chocolate dried quick on the frozen banana. I did not have any trouble with mine turning brown .

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

      They are great frozen 💕

  3. Julia

I made these last weekend. They were amazing! I used dairy free chocolate, dipped the whole thing and then sprinkled unsweetened coconut on them. They tasted decadent, but were actually really healthy.

  4. Clarissa

What are the calories per serving?

  5. Mary Hansel

I’m curious about the calories on these also. Does anyone know

  6. Natalie

What are the calories and how many per serving?

I only have one concern th iij nk I am a Diabetic Type One and I want to ask what is it the Cholesterol, Carbohydrates, and lastly Sugars? Because I am very strict about my diabetes.

    • Amy

This really would be dependent on the type of “butter” you choose, so you would have to calculate the nutrition based on the labels of the ingredients you select.

    • AP

It would entirely depend on the ingredients. What chocolate, nut butter, and even the ripeness of the bananas and how thick you coat the nut butter and chocolate would change all of those things. This likely isn’t a diabetic friendly dessert as there would likely be a lot of sugar and carbs involved.

  8. Sandy

Yes they are delicious and just right!

  9. Neli

Does the lime juice give it a citrus flavor?

  10. Cindy

Here is my WW 0 points on Blue frozen bananasicle recipe – 1/2 banana spread with 1 Tbs Dannon Light & Fit greek yogurt and sprinkled with 13 Lilys No Sugar Added Dark Chocolate Baking Chips. Protip – if you don’t have popsicle sticks stick it on the end of a fork. 🙂

    • chesca

Oh wow!! Thanks. That sounds GREAT!! Good luck with your WW journey. 😁 You got it girl

  11. Rmunoz

I need some help with this one! When I tried to make them, the banana slices were kinda gooey and the peanut butter wouldn’t stick! Any ideas?

    • chesca

Cut up bananas and then freeze the bananas pieces first. Should allow y to smear the PB on easier. Then just freeze the finished product 😊

  12. swilliso
