The key is to plan ahead and stay organized, so let’s start planning now so things will run smoothly on the day of Thanksgiving. You’ll be so glad you followed these tips so you can actually be able to relax & enjoy your meal and your family time this year! 😋
1. Thanksgiving Menu Plan
Use this FREE printable as a plan to write out what you’re serving for your Thanksgiving menu. My printable even has plenty of space to write your entire grocery list! From sides to the main course, there’s a section for everything so nothing will be forgotten this year!
Hip Tip: Eating keto?! We have a keto Thanksgiving meal plan on our sister site Hip2Keto.online, including a printable grocery list!
2. Thanksgiving Prep Timeline
Use this FREE printable as a checklist to prep ahead on tasks to make sure you’re on track as Thanksgiving approaches. It’ll let you know how soon to thaw the turkey, and I even included tips on what can be made in advance. Some dishes can even be done as many as 5 days in advance, so be sure to print this one ASAP!
3. Thanksgiving Portions Cheat Sheet
Use this FREE printable to know how much food you’ll need for each dish you’re serving this year. This cheat sheet can help you plan accordingly for families and Thanksgiving celebrations of all sizes!
I’ve hosted many Thanksgiving celebrations, so here’s some additional advice I have to offer:
Get help from others.
Try to assign a few of the menu items to other family members or guests who will be joining you this Thanksgiving. Doing this will make things less overwhelming when you have fewer dishes to make. Even if it’s small details or tasks like bringing beverages or ice, this can take something off your “to-do” list.
Use coupons and check local in-store sales.
Start looking for coupons and sales early! Last year, I scored a 15-pound turkey that was on sale for just $11.49 total at my local Albertson’s store. They price-match local grocery stores for their Signature Farms frozen turkeys, and it was such a great deal.
Utilize your other appliances.
Oven space can be an issue onlinee Thanksgiving Day, so with that said, make sure you’re using your other small appliances to help. You could use a slow cooker for warming mashed potatoes, a toaster oven for heating casseroles, and so on.
Air fryers are fabulous too! Check out my review on the Beautiful by Drew Barrymore collection from Walmart and make sure to check out our full lineup of air fryer recipes to try something new this year. Plus, watch the stores for their annual Black Friday air fryer sales, so if you don’t already have one, you can score a great deal on a new air fryer!
Buy premade foods to lessen the load.
There’s no shame in using meal shortcuts like frozen pie dough, store-bought stuffing mix, pre-made pies, etc. In fact, my family often bakes frozen Rhodes yeast dinner rolls at Thanksgiving as they are so fluffy and actually taste homemade!
No matter what others are doing, do what works for you and your family – even if that means keeping things as simple as possible!
Hip Tip: Want to get literally everything pre-made this Thanksgiving? These places often offer entire Thanksgiving meals for pickup or delivery!
And remember…
Thanksgiving is a day to be thankful, stuff your bellies full of good food, and enjoy the holiday with loved ones. Don’t forget to be in the moment, stay unplugged, and try not to stress over everything being super perfect. It’s the memories your kids will remember most! ❤️
