Instant Pot Mac and Cheese

Note: The actual cooking time is closer to 20 minutes, because it takes time for the machine to onlinee to pressure and then it cooks. I still feel like it’s easier and more convenient than boiling water on the stove, but if you don’t have a pressure cooker, you can cook your noodles on the stove first and then follow the rest of the instructions.Best Mac and Cheese for the Pressure Cooker Hip2Save.online

Any good recipes similar to this for the slow cocker? Don’t own a pressure cocker.

    • Bremoeller

You can actually put all these same ingredients in s slow cooker on low for 2-3 hours and get the same result.

      • Kimberly

Thank you. I don’t have pressure cooker. Last thing I want to do is add more appliances. LOL

    • rob

I’ve made Trisha Yearwood’s slow cooker mac n cheese that was really good. Hth

  4. Mel

Looks oh so yummy. Now I want mac & cheese 😀

  5. karen

Any good recipes similar to this one for the slow cocker? Don’t own a pressure cocker.

    • jennifer

Slow cocker! Lol, thanks I needed that little chuckle!

    • Lina (Hip's Modern Martha)

Yes I haven’t tried yet – but the onlinemon slow cooker directions I found online are 3 hours on low, but with 1.5-2 cups milk plus the can of evaporated milk instead of water in this recipe. Hope that helps!

  6. Heather C.

    Looks SO yummy!

  7. Pat

Does it have to be an “instant” pressure cooker (whatever that is). I have a stovetop one.

    • Lina (Hip's Modern Martha)

No, you can use your pressure cooker! Thanks Pat

  8. Melloddie

Some bacon crumbs to top that if would be great 😆

    • Lina (Hip's Modern Martha)

Ah yes bacon is always a great idea! Thanks 👌🏻

      • Victory

Bacon is good in nearly anything!

  9. Holly

I washed my new Instapot tonight, and made this. Although it would have just been easier to cook the noodles on the stove, I got used to handling the Instapot. I didn’t even hear it cooking! As with all pressure cookers, follow the instructions carefully. It was delicious!

  10. Angela

    Do you cook macaroni first?

    • Lina (Hip's Modern Martha)

If using a pressure cooker – no. It’s awesome how it just absorbs the water and cooks noodles!

  11. Angela

    Thank You Lina!

  12. Sue

I can get crunchy topping using a slow cooker. Top with breadcrumb/butter mix & put a paper towel across top of lid to collect moisture so they don’t get soggy.

  13. Alison

This recipe was just delicious, Lina! Thank you for sharing it. One request…more Instant Pot recipes….:) Pretty please and thank you!

    • Lina (Hip's Modern Martha)

That’s great news! Thanks for the feedback.

  14. browniesmomma

How about some recipes for a stove top pressure cooker? Got one last year & still haven’t used it yet…

  15. Pat

Your recipe says it’s for pressure cooker, yet your instructions are for the instant pot, which is different than a regular stove top pressure cooker. Wish I could try the recipes, but would want an actual pressure cooker recipe, not an electric instant pot recipe.

    • Mel

the time is the same making this recipe for a stove top pressure cooker. My MIL had quite a few handwritten recipes for her stove top pressure cooker and have not had an issue converting/cooking those same recipes in my electric pressure cooker.

      • Pat

        Thanks, will try it!

  16. Courtney

My three year old loved this so much he ran from the table to hug me ‘Mmmmm, so yum yum momma!’

  17. ds

YUM this looks soo good i love mac and cheese i can eat that any hour of the day all day long!!!

  18. Shirl

    Yes, yes, yes! Thank you!

  19. Deb

Thanks! been looking for a homemade mac and cheese recipe (that tastes good) I will have to see how gluten free noodles do in a pressure cooker. They are very “picky” regarding cooking time, too long and they are disgusting.

  20. Chasetity

How many cups of macaroni ?? Not sure on 1lb thanks

    • Csandst1

1 lb of pasta is 16 oz which is the equivalent to a standard size box of pasta.

  21. Sheila

Can anybody tell me if the mustard in this recipe is dried mustard or the condiment? Most recipes I see call for dried, but I wanted to double check.

  22. Barb

This might be a dumb question but is the mustard powdered or prepared yellow mustard?

    • Jessica

The picture at the top shows a regular yellow mustard bottle.

  23. A. Smith

By far the easiest and cheesiest no fail recipe for this. Glad I found it. Thanks.

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

That’s great news! Thanks for sharing 👍

  24. Candy

How many cups to a pound? I looked it up and it said 2 cups. It was way, too watery, so I’m thinking 3-4.

  25. Kathy

Delicious! There was a little liquid when I opened the lid after cooking the pasta, but I didn’t drain it. It absorbed into the dish. So easy!! So fast!! So good!!

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

I’m so glad you like it!! Thanks for sharing 😋

  26. Emily

Kids are excited to try this tonight! I’m doubling the recipe. Would you reonlinemend increasing the cooking time if I double it? Thanks!!

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

I haven’t tried doubling – but everything I’m reading online says you don’t have to. Just that you’re pot will adjust and take longer to onlinee to pressure. You should be good! Thanks!

  27. Kim

How many Cups would you estimate to be in one serving for this recipe. Love it but have started to keep track of my foods for weight loss.

  28. Sue

    That looks so delicious!

  29. SusanL

Great recipe. Super easy in pressure cooker. I substituted chicken broth for the water for more flavor.

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

Awesome! Thanks for sharing Susan 👏
