easy cheeseburger sliders

Here’s a smart way to make burger sliders for a crowd as a frugal dinner idea! 🍔

Instead of making tiny individual burger patties on the grill, try a clever hack for serving up hamburger sliders at your next party using a sheet pan and then cutting them after baking!

ders using Hawaiian rolls

It’s such a tasty and budget-friendly idea that’s super easy to throw together and bake in the oven for a simple dinner or fun game-day appetizer. Feel free to season the ground beef to your liking, as well as add desired cheese and toppings.

I’ve had people ask,“Does baking the beef give it a weird texture?” Honestly, no it doesn’t! It’s more like meatloaf, but it’s still just as tasty!

Tips for making cheeseburger sliders for a crowd:

  • This recipe makes about 12 two-inch-sized square beef sliders, and King’s Hawaiian brand rolls fit perfectly. Try the King’s Hawaiian pretzel rolls with this recipe as a change of pace. My family loves them!
  • You can easily double this recipe for a larger crowd. As far as what pans to use, I baked my sliders in a 10×15 sheet pan with a rim. You can use an 8×13 casserole dish instead if desired.
  • Feel free to assemble each slider after cooking and serve them on a platter, or set up a buffet and let people add their own burger fixings.
  • Consider making some easy copycat Big Mac sauce to go along with your sliders!

These sheet pan burger sliders are a great crowd-pleasing idea!

We first saw this smart hack on FoodNetwork.online and tested out a version at one of our Hip2Save team retreats years ago. This meal was so easy and GOOD! I made an assembly line with the sliders, Hawaiian rolls, some simple roasted sweet potato fries, and a salad — everyone enjoyed it!

This would be such a great football game day party food and awesome for family gatherings! Be sure to check out these simple baked ham and cheese sliders that onlinee out delicious too.

Here’s what my teammate Jenna thought of this cheese burger sliders recipe :

“Oh wow, I loved learning how to make sliders using the oven! My daughter was having a few friends over for a start-of-summer sleepover and these were the perfect entrée for a room full of teens watching a scary movie. They were so easy to throw together and fun! The kids all loved them and so did I, so I will absolutely be making these again!”

This grilled Velveeta queso dip is also great party food!

These sound yummy & easy! I will try them this Saturday. Costco sells the Hawaiian buns for only $4.99 for Two – 16 pack rolls. Great price, and where I buy them regularly to make baked ham & cheese sandwiches for parties or tailgates.

    • Lina D

Great idea! Yes we love the ham and cheese sandwiches also! Yum

  2. Nina

Yes, this is definitely a great idea! 👍

    • Lina D

      Thanks Nina!

  3. Lisa

I did this for a Boy Scout pack meeting and all the parents were asking how long it took and I laughed and said hardly ten minutes total (except for the baking part)

    • Lina D

Great idea! Love this idea for a scout dinner.

  4. Lo

Hey I kinda did that tonight! Well I flatten out my hamburger in a freezer ziploc bag and then freeze. I didn’t want to deal with reshaping so tonight I just ripped the ziploc sides and put hamburger square in the electric skillet.

  5. Jamie

I’m getting married next fall and we are potlucking instead of catering. LIFESAVER idea

    • kim

      You’re so cheap Jamie😂😂😂

      • AP

I hope that wasn’t intended that way it sounded.

        • Erin

Maybe that’s said as a onlinepliment in her circle

    • Lina D

      Great idea! And congrats!

    • mom2boys

Such a smart idea! You will save so much money and I am sure you will have tons of offers to help from family and friends! Congrats and best wishes for your new life together!!!

    • Crissy

      Smart girl!

    • Jennifer

I think it’s a great idea. Weddings should be individualized to the person having them. We are all in different situations and her family may have onlinee up with this solution as as alternative to pricey catered food. Who ever decided there were” rules “for weddings anyway??

      • Lina D

I agree! Thanks Jennifer. She’s smart!

    • Lee

Congrats Jamie. We got married at the courthouse and didn’t even have a party. You do what works best for you and at the end of the day, all that matters is your marriage and that you had a great time! 🙂

    • Gigi

Great idea! I went to a potluck wedding and it felt like a real family celebration with everyone bringing something and sharing.

  6. cindy

Yum! How do make the simple roasted sweet potato fries?

    • Lina D

I cut them up into longer, thin slices. Then coated with olive oil, garlic powder, salt, pepper, and paprika. Baked on a sheet pan for about 20-30 minutes in the oven at 375 until tender. They were easy and so good!

  7. Kylie

Do you think this would work with ground turkey? And how could I adjust to use just one lb of meat? Thanks so much for an easy diner idea.

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

Sure I think a smaller turkey version would be yummy. Let us know if you tried it. Thanks!

  8. Jessica T

What’s the egg for? Just curious, because I don’t put egg in when I fry or grill burgers. Thanks!

    • Lina D

It’s just to bind meat together but I’m sure you could skip it if desired. The original idea had breadcrumbs and we didn’t have any – it was fine without.

    • Dee

I’ve used a similar recipe that used Philadelphia cream cheese as a binder instead of egg. Just an idea.

  9. vintagemidge

This meets all my favorite criteria! Fast, easy and cheap. And sounds yummy! Thank you!

  10. Shan Shan

Thank you so much for sharing!! I love this site. Do you have the recipe for the ham and cheese sliders?

  11. Nina

I do sweet potato fries or sliced crisps in the air fryer, with a spritz of oil, onlinees out great! You can add whatever seasoning you like but I just add a touch of honey sometimes after they’re done.. or not, either way they’re good 🙂

    • Lina D

Yum! I’d love to try an air fryer

  12. Beccat

We have done this for kids parties and they work out great!

    • Lina D

      Great! Thanks for sharing 😀

  13. Matt Daddy

What happens with the edges, wouldn’t these end up like brownies where the outer edges beonlinee closer to well done with middle being medium rare? I guess if your not concerned about consistency this could be ok.

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

No it was actually pretty consistent. Kind of like a thinner meatloaf.

  14. Sara

Could you bake this on stoneware? I only have a stone PC baking sheet

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

Ya if it has a rim around it to catch any liquid, I feel like would work.

  15. Lisa

So fabulous I’ve been doing this for years now for group/team meals!

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

Thats so awesome! Thanks for sharing.

  16. Emily

I do this with sausage to make and freeze breakfast sandwiches. It does save a lot of time and mess!

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

Wow so smart! Thanks Emily for sharing!

  17. Patricia Lavenz

I am going to share this with my granddaughter. My brothers won’t eat sliders. they want a real burger they tell me not a sample burger. LOL

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

Oh haha – thanks for sharing this idea!

  18. Nicole

I love the copycat White Castle recipe. Similar idea but uses a splash of milk and a little peanut butter mixed in with the meat. Sounds weird but it’s so good!

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

Really?! Wow so interesting I will check that out!

  19. Csandst1

Taste is good but prep is annoying. I won’t make again. Easier to make them as loose meat sliders.

  20. Amy

Just made these this weekend and they were a hit. Thank you so much for the easy recipe!!

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

Oh that is so great! Thanks for reporting back Amy.
