The result is a mouth-watering pairing of savory melted brie and sweet fig jam wrapped in a buttery croissant-like puff pastry. I suggest spreading it over apples, crackers, or crusty bread.

Tips for making the BEST baked brie puff pastry appetizer:

  • Working with frozen sheets of puff pastry is super easy and affordable. They can usually be found with frozen desserts at the grocery store. You’ll want your sheet to be defrosted first though. Set it out for about 20-30 minutes on the counter to prep.
  • Need an idea of what to do with the leftover sheet of puff pastry? I cut mine into squares and wrapped them over hot dogs! Afterward, I baked for a fancier yet super easy version of pigs in a blanket. My kids thought was amazing! 😂
  • Fig jam goes so well with brie, it’s like a match made in heaven, and I love this Divina brand from my grocery store. If you wanted to use a different sweet jam, it would work out too. I think raspberry or apricot would be yummy, or even cranberry sauce could be a great holiday choice.
  • This idea can be varied in many different ways. Some other suggested melted brie onlinebinations would be drizzled honey with red chili flakes, using sprigs of fresh thyme, pairing maple syrup and chopped walnuts, or pumpkin butter with pecans! YUM.
  • I like to serve baked brie with apple slices and crackers. My very favorite crackers for this recipe and for charcuterie boards are Carr’s water crackers. This time of year Costco usually has a large pack of them at a great price to stock up.

This is gooey baked brie heaven!

My family basically inhaled this for lunch one day and it’s so darn good. Even my kids who aren’t necessarily huge brie fans ordinarily actually enjoyed it, too! I think brie that’s melted has a more mellow flavor and pairs beautifully with the sweet fig flavor.

Like the fun rustic tray I have? Mine was a HomeGoods find, but here are some similar wood slice platters on Amazon!

Here’s what my teammate Jenna had to say about this melted baked brie appetizer:

“I loved how easy this appetizer is, and you can switch the jams or figs out each time to create something different. Our family likes spicy, so we used peppered jelly. I even took it to the next level and added bacon crumbles to the mix. I have made this a few times, and I will definitely be making it again this holiday season – YUM!”

Yummy!!! I tried something similar not too long ago that called for sage leaves to be topped on the crackers…the flavors were amazing! Thanks so much for posting…I bet the puff pastry is the ultimate onlinefort food with this!

Wow that’s sounds great too! Thanks for sharing!

  3. ella

I’ll have to try the Brie with puff pastry. I love roasting a head of garlic and having that with baked Brie. The roasted garlic cloves spread like butter and go so well with Brie.

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

      Wow that sounds fantastic! Yum.

  4. msudaisy28

I love baked brie like this! I use the same fig jam that you’ve used but don’t put it inside the brie, rather I serve it on the side. I also serve the Sour Cherry jam that is made by the same onlinepany. It’s delicious!

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

Oh yum I’ll have to check out the cherry! We also love the spicy fig one. Yum!

  5. Aws

I do a similar one but make it super seasonal by heating 1/2 a bag of fresh cranberries till they pop then stir in jar of apricot jelly. It’s sweet and tart. I even use crescent roll dough so I don’t have to plan ahead to defrost puff pastry and it’s such a crowd pleaser!!!

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

Wow 🤩 that sounds great! Thanks for sharing. I love hearing everyone’s variations ❤️

  6. Couponanimal

Thanks! I’m going to try this topped with bacon jam!

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

      Yum!

  7. iamkris10

could you skip the jam entirely and it still onlinee out nicely? I would assume, but I also am aware that it may change the way it melts a bit, etc.

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

Yes you can. You could even serve on the size like one reader suggested.

  10. Lesli

My sister makes us and topped it with raspberry jelly. It is so yummy! I could eat the whole thing

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

      YES!! Haha same!

  11. Maria

I love this recipe and have also done these in bite size format, they are great for a crowd. Just cut the Brie into bite size pieces and add a bit of jam then wrap with pastry.

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

Oh great idea!! Thanks for sharing Maria!

  12. J

Nice to put an egg wash on the pastry before baking. Also, if the pastry starts to get too brown during baking, put a square of foil loosely over the top of it and continue baking until done.

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

      Yep! Thanks for sharing!

  13. Cat

I like to do it with raspberry jam then put walnuts on top of the jam befor the dough!! So yummy over Granny Smith apples!

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

      Yum! Great idea!

  14. Kathleen

Costco has a premade one with fig too

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

      Oh nice! Thanks for sharing!

  15. esfullerbeatty

Wonder if there is an air fryer version, possibly with a different setting? I have a Ninja 4 quart and find that when I have something small for the oven, it is much more efficient to use the air fryer and I’m sure I’m saving a lot in energy costs.

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

Oh ya I bet that would work. Maybe just shorten the cook time a little as it’s easy to open and check. 👍good idea!

  16. kalynn

So do you all eat the rind then? We just eat the gooey cheese inside of it but if you are spreading jam between the cheese and pastry, I’m assuming you are eating all of it? We love Brie and cheese/charcuterie boards!

    • Jennifer (Hip Sidekick)

The President Brie has an edible white rind.

    • pg5oconnor

I eat the rind but If I’m not sure that my guests will eat the rind, I use a small cheese grater to take most of the rind off.

  17. amato20

I love baked brie! If I don’t have puff pastry on hand, I use pre-made pie crust (and bake until my husband asks if something is burning 😅). If serving during brunch, my favorite topping is orange marmalade, but I use raspberry for other times of day. It’s perfect with some apples on the side, along with the crackers! I’m definitely going to try it with fig next time. Thank you!

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

Oh nice! Orange would be yummy! Thanks for sharing!

    • garry_save

Raspberry jam even with real raspberries is the best!

  18. Hilda

You can also just use a tube of crescent rolls. Open it, unroll it, don’t tear them apart. No extra sheet of puff pastry that way.

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

      Thanks for sharing!

  19. Cortney

We make something similar but instead of Brie, use a Gouda cheese round (the ones wrapped in red wax). Peel the wax off & place in puff pastry. Out of this world flavor, gooey melted cheese & delicate & crisp puff pastry.

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

Oh wow! I bet that’s awesome 👏 Thanks for sharing ❤️

  20. kate-lynn

I make this weekly! I use different toppings every single time. This week it was strawberry jalapeño jelly and last week it was hot pepper jelly. And I use crescent rolls instead of puff pastry because it is easier to find. Top with almonds on the crescent rolls. Don’t buy the pre made ones. It’s much cheaper this way. 😊

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

Very nice! Love the pepper jelly idea!!

  21. Jen

Quick question: it says in the directions to bake for 25 minutes, then cook for 10? Was that supposed to say “let it sit for 10?” Thanks! Can’t wait to try!

  22. Melissa

Does the jam go on the underside of the Brie, assuming you spread it on then wrap the pastry sheet then flip the Sean down? So that would make the jam be on the bottom.. Or do you spread it then flip the bride onto the pastry, pull edges together and flip the seam under? I hope I’m explaining my question correctly LOL! Basically should the jam end up on bottom with the seams, or on the top? Thanks!

    • Jennifer (Hip Sidekick)

The first way you said it is correct. In the end, the jam will be on the bottom.

      • Melissa

Great, thanks so much! I’m going to make this for Christmas this year 😊

  23. Melissa

    I meant *seam* NOT Sean

  24. Wendy

My daughter’s name is Bri so I used to serve Brie when family came over to celebrate her birthday.

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

      That’s so cute! ha

  25. Linnie

I think you mean “let cool” for 10 minutes

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

Thanks for catching that, Linnie! This has been updated.

  26. Kirsten

This looks amazing Lina! I also love your rustic tray!!

    • Lina D (Hip2Save Sidekick)

Oh yay – and thanks so much Kirsten!
