What We Think of Taco Bell’s New Toasted Cheddar Chalupa

Taco Bell just added the Toasted Cheddar Chalupa to their menu, and we were really eager to try it out! After all, taking a beloved menu item and making it even cheesier seems like a slam dunk!
We sent our in-house Taco Bell expert and self-proclaimed chalupa-lover Stetson to test this updated version of one of his favorite menu items. In case you missed it, you can catch his taste test by watching a replay of yesterday’s Facebook Live video. Here’s what he had to say before trying out the Toasted Cheddar Chalupa:
“I basically live at Taco Bell. I love all of their items, from the bean and cheese burritos to that spicy nacho cheese and chips to their classic crunchy taco. Every once in a while something new onlinees along to Taco Bell that surprises us and tastes great, and sometimes the new item is a disaster. Today I’m trying the new Toasted Cheddar Chalupa to see how it rates as the newest menu item at Taco Bell!”
The Toasted Cheddar Chalupa features 6-month-aged cheddar toasted right onto the traditional Chalupa flatbread shell. Inside you’ll find seasoned beef, a three-cheese blend, lettuce, tomatoes, and reduced-fat sour cream.
The Toasted Cheddar Chalupa can be ordered with beef ($3.19), chicken ($3.79), or steak ($3.99). You can also upgrade your Chalupa to a meal with two tacos and a drink for $5.99. Please note that prices may vary by location, and these were the prices listed at Stetson’s local Taco Bell.
Here’s what Stetson had to say about this new menu item:
“This new Toasted Cheddar Chalupa was a total surprise! I really enjoy the classic Chalupa from Taco Bell, but this one just blew me away. From the first bite into the crunch of that toasted cheese I was hooked. The shell melted in my mouth and gave me a taste of cheese that was just perfect. With fast-food, we know that sometimes menu items at chain restaurants can be a hit or miss, but this particular Chalupa couldn’t have been any better. I haven’t had anything new from Taco Bell that blew me away like this in a very long time. This definitely should be a permanent menu item. I reonlinemend it 100%, and I hope you enjoy it as much as I did!”
