   You could go to the dollar store & make your own treasure box with 8 dollar items that the kids won’t be interested in. You could also get creative & glue photos of Ryan into the box & then you would save atleast $60.

  You can buy a nice handmade wooden one for $30 or under on Etsy, plastic on ebay (I would also put an alert as people sell they ryans world ones without the stuff), amazon, and I bought ones about half this size from mardels not sure if they have larger.

  Stores like Hobby Lobby sometimes have nice boxes that look like treasure chests, or unfinished ones that you can decorate. Pare that with a sale or a coupon, and you’ve good a great deal on a MUCH better treasure chest.

  I scored mine a while back for around $50. This was one of the main gifts my child asked for for christmas. In fact, he’s been asking for it for almost 5 months DAILY. He is obsessed with everything Ryan. I’m sure I could have got the stuff inside for way cheaper and I’m sure that the stuff inside is likely “junk” BUT the look on his face christmas morning when he unwraps it will be totally priceless and without a doubt make it “worth” it! No Regrets and as long as HE enjoys it and it makes HIM happy then that’s $50 well spent IMO.

  Also, how is this any different than those popular LOL surprise toys?? It’s not. Those things are way overpriced but guess what? Kids LOVE them and continue to buy them. Just because parents think the stuff is junk doesn’t make it true in the eyes of children.

  This! This! This! If you can afford it then by all means do it for your child. Don’t be that cheap parent your kid will remember. And if you can’t afford it, then be creative goto Michaels/Amazon for a treasure box and go find affordable toys to wrap in boxes, tissue paper, etc. your child will love both either way!

  Lol! Don’t be a cheap parent. Buy them things instead of teaching them the value of things and spending time with them. Lol. I’d rather spend my money doing something with them in the limited time we have than spending $70 on cheap toys they’ll forget about.

  My child doesn’t know what Ryan’s World is because she is NOT allowed to watch youtube. This has saved me tons of money with a lot of toys… And she is not deprived and has so many other toys and would still rather go somewhere than play with them. I like the creative ideas more than buying this because of the thought that goes into the gift.

  It’s the parent’s job to teach their kids the difference between junk and a quality item, and to spend their money wisely. If they see you spend large amounts of money on junk, don’t be surprised if they grow up thinking this is normal acceptable behavior.

  Same here. I paid full price back in Sept because I was afraid it would sell out. I returned it when I could grab it for $50ish with sale and coupon. SO many toys are kind of ridic when we think about them, but my kid will love receiving it.

  You could say the same thing about every single child actor/singer. I don’t think this kid is exploited and he is set for life.

  My kid isn’t into Ryan or his stuff, but I’d buy it in a heartbeat if that’s what my child wanted.

  I didn’t know either. Just looked it up. It said: In a onlineplaint filed to the FTC, consumer watchdog Truth In Advertising accused Ryan of not clearly disclosing paid sponsorship from brands such as Walmart. “It is often difficult to discern the innocent (or sometimes not so innocent ) antics in Ryan ToysReview videos from the sponsored content. And for preschoolers, it is impossible to discern the difference,” Truth In Advertising said in the onlineplaint. They say that 90 percent of the family’s videos include a paid-for product that they did not label as a sponsor.

   They have something similar to a treasure chest at ac Moore they are very nice wood. Use a half off coupon and they are about 17.00 I stained mine put my grandchildren’s name on them and filled them with art supplies. They each have there own keepsake.

    To be fair, people can spend their money the way they want to…but sometimes my kids really do ask for junk that I know won’t bring them joy for long and I feel it’s also my job to teach them the value of things. I’ll indulge within reason, but $70 for pirate trinkets that my kids have received at a dozen birthday parties before seems outrageous.

    I find that it’s the same for all toys of this kind. My niece loves Ryan’s World, LOL Surprise, Party POP Teenies, Shopkins. It’s not so much about the toys, but about the “Surprise, what am I going to get?” feeling for the kids. Toys are always plastic and tiny and they lose interest easily. Not worth the money… and the risk of stepping on those toys. Haha.

    Ryan’s World is literally the best example of child exploitation! I refuse to buy anything from that brand. That’s alot of money on some dumb plastic that kids are gonna lose

    Kids love surprise toys. I haven’t figured it, but then I love a surprise subscription box. It feels like Christmas morning when it onlinees. I went with cubscription from build a bear. You posted way back and I figure I would sign up for a year and she get a box for Easter, b’day and two for Christmas.

    Thanks for the review! My daughter has asked for a treasure chest for a couple years now. Her big brother has one and and she loves the idea. This chest looks really cute with all the onlinepartments but definitely over priced! Maybe it’ll go on clearance in January!! Fingers crossed. 😉

    I ran across the pocket watch dress up box at Walmart a couple weeks ago. There were only 4 left in the store then. I grabbed it for my 5 year old. Now I am wondering if I should just sell it if it is likely garbage too.

    Thank You for sharing! Nephew’s Love Ryan and of course I have to get them everything. I will pass and make my own. However, I must say the digging adventure the kids love. I buy them for my nephews about $15-$20 price range but usually dig dinosaur bones or gems.
    Might be able to still score a deal on clearanced pirate costumes and dollar store cheap stones and “jewels” for a create your own chest!
