My sister owns this virtual reality gaming system and she brought it with her to Christmas last year. Yes, the Oculus Quest 2 price is a little high, but the graphics are truly next level. It was such a fun way to hang out with family and get active.

My daughter and I both love playing Beat Saber and it’s a fun way to get moving after sitting at my desk all day. We also play Lucky’s Tale and Angry Birds – both are family-friendly games. A lot of times we’ll cast onto our TV so everyone can see what we’re doing for games like this to make it more of a family thing rather than a single-player.

She also loves the rock climbing games and Gorilla Tag (though I turn the sound off on this as she’s only 8 and it’s an online game). There are so many different types of games available and it’s such a unique way to play rather than on a TV or console like other gaming experiences. – Chelsey, Hip2Save team

You can watch movies and TV too!

Want an immersive movie-watching experience? The Oculus Quest 2, otherwise known as Meta Quest 2, has the ability to play 3D movies and videos. Some users are loving the way 3D movies look through their Oculus headset!

This Reddit user originally bought the Quest 2 just for watching movies:

“I only bought a Quest 2 because I like to watch 3D movies and the 3D mode on my TV had just died… When I saw everything else it can do, I was blown away and I realized it was one of the best purchases I ever made… In terms of 3D quality, the best movies to watch are those filmed with 3D cameras (examples: Avatar, Tron Legacy, Alita Battle Angel, The Hobbit movies, etc.) and also any animated movie, because those can always be rendered in true 3D.” – gb410

Is the Oculus Quest 2 worth it? We think so…

“We have two, and I totally think it’s still worth buying. Even with the price increase, there really isn’t a better VR system available than the Quest. Our favorite family games are Beat Sabers and Gorilla Tag. One thing I really love about it is that even though it is a video game it’s very active. My kids always work up a sweat and it really is a workout, rather than sitting on the couch and playing the Xbox all night!” – Liz, Hip2Save team

“We have 2 and we all love it. Recently, we all played “I Expect You to Die,” a James Bond-esque escape room. Since you can cast it on the screen while you are playing, my sixteen-year-old had a great time watching me attempt to evade spies and solve puzzles. Totally worth it for us.” – Kelli, Hip2save team

We bought one and didn’t use it. Thought if we bought another one we’d use them together. Never have. Wasted our money.

    • Jessica (Hip Sidekick)

Bummer! So sorry your family didn’t enjoy this system, Livlee. Thanks so much for the honest feedback. 💗

  2. Marinova

As a former Star Trek: TNG junkie, I always thought the holodeck was the coolest thing. Now I look at these pics and think this looks just like “The Game” episode where Data gets deactivated and Wesley saves everyone from their gaming addiction. Like it or not these things do effect our neurotransmitters. I’ll keep my reality real instead of virtual, even if it means fewer dopamine hits.

    • Jessica (Hip Sidekick)

Thanks for taking a moment to share your thoughts with us, Marinova! ❤️ We sure appreciate it! 🤗

We bought one for our kids for Christmas a couple of years ago. When we opened it and read the manual, it warns that it’s not for use by children under 13 as it can have adverse health effects. We did not realize this. Also, it can be hard on developing eyes. Lastly, for me, as an adult, it gives me a headache and it’s heavy on my face. I don’t like using it. It was not a great buy for us.

    • Jessica (Hip Sidekick)

Thanks for letting us know about your experience with this gaming system, Nscher. Sorry this system didn’t work out for your family. ❤️

My wife and I both have our own headsets and use them quite a bit. Beatsaber is an excellent workout and really fun. Superhot makes you feel like John Wick. We also do a fair bit of Texas Hold ’em with PokerStars.
The halo strap with the extra battery extends the use time a lot and helps distribute the weight better.
I sometimes will connect it to my PC and use my flight stick to play Star Wars Squadrons. Feels like getting to fly an x-wing or tie-fighter. Tetris Effect is a very relaxing zen-like experience.
There are a lot of great experiences on the Quest 2.

    • Jessica (Hip Sidekick)

SWEET! Thanks for sharing your helpful and positive review on how much you and your wife have been enjoying your headsets, Tony! 🙌❤️ Good to know there are a wide variety of games for everyone to enjoy!
