You May Be Eligible for a $25 Payout from Walmart – No Proof of Purchase Necessary
You could be eligible to receive a cash payout in a class action settlement against Walmart.
Walmart shoppers who purchased certain sold-by-weight meat, poultry, pork, and seafood products (known as “Weighted Goods”) and certain organic oranges, grapefruit, tangerines, and navel oranges sold in bulk in mesh or plastic bags (known as “Bagged Citrus”) may be eligible to file a claim in a class action lawsuit against the retailer.
A Settlement was recently reached against Walmart, alleging customers who purchased these items in-store paid more than the lowest in-store advertised price.
Walmart denies these allegations, but they have agreed to settle with customers who purchased the affected products between October 19th, 2018 and January 19th, 2024. If the Court approves the settlement at the final hearing on June 12, 2024, class members who submit a valid claim form may be entitled to a cash payment.
Proof of purchase is not required for smaller claims. Here’s the payout information, based on the number of qualifying products purchased:
- Up to 50 qualifying products during the class action settlement period without proof of purchase – $10
- From 51 to 75 qualifying products during the class action settlement period without proof of purchase – $15
- From 76 to 100 qualifying products during the class action settlement period without proof of purchase – $20
- 101 or more qualifying products during the class action settlement period without proof of purchase – $25.
- If you have receipts or other proof of purchase for any number of qualifying products, you can claim 2% of the total amount spent, up to a maximum of $500.
The deadline to submit a claim is June 5, 2024, and a onlineplete list of the qualifying products can be found here.
