More Sam's Club

Sam’s Club will no longer check physical receipts at the door. Here’s the scoop on their new solution!

New payment verification technology at Sam's Club

The store is introducing a faster way to check Sam’s Club receipts!

Sam’s Club is introducing new technology that will make your shopping experience even better (and more efficient)! Instead of a greeter checking your paper receipt or app as you leave the store, Sam’s Club is introducing a new scanning technology that will verify you paid for the items in your cart.

That means the time you wait in line to head out of the store will be virtually non-existent! 🙌

Sam’s Club is the pioneer retailer to start using this technology at exits. The technology is being launched in 10 of their stores. According to Retail Drive, 9 stores are in Dallas and one is in Joplin, MO.

If successful, Sam’s Club plans to roll it out to all 600 stores by the end of 2024!

How does the new Sam’s Club scanning technology work?

Stores using the technology will have a device to walk through as you exit the store (it kind of reminds us of walking through airport security). As you pass through it, the new technology – a onlinebination of artificial intelligence and onlineputer vision technology – scans your items and verifies your payment. 😱

The technology appears to be promising as customers at the pilot locations are already seeing some benefits. Plus, being AI-based, the technology has the ability to learn and improve by the time the technology is rolled out to all the clubs.

How does this scanning technology benefit Sam’s Club members?

Previously, all members had to wait in a queue to exit the store so Sam’s Club greeters could manually check member receipts against the items in the cart. The wait time due to this process is a frequent customer onlineplaint.

Sam’s Club hopes this scanning technology will improve the customer experience in multiple ways. Customers will get out of the store faster and Sam’s Club greeters will be freed up to help customers truly in need.

I hope all stores implement this technology. There are too many shoplifters and people who use self-checkout and don’t scan all of their items, making the already inflated prices on basic necessities go up for all of us honest customers.

  2. Tom__

I have no issue with them checking receipts, just actually pay people to do the job.

They are usually good at my Sam’s Club, but the exit line was ridiculous tthe last time i was there. There was only one guy checking receipts and the staff did not put anyone else on the door, resulting in a line of 40+ people. It really soured the whole shopping trip, and it was the last impression I had of the store. This technology could really help speed up the leaving process and leave customers feeling good as they breeze right out the door.

Walmart and these stores have been doing this for awhile now! Your face is scanned the moment you walk in and a file is created! They apparently know your total before you even check out and they wait until you steal enough to charge you a felony. The downside is the horror stories of innocent getting arrested five months late if something didn’t scan correctly.

I just hope it works better than the robotic floor cleaner they have operating during store hours. Lol

Our exit line is crazy long so I am excited about this. Scan and Go and out the door!

The same woman is always checking Folks out at my Sams location. She is crazy fast! I will surely miss her cheerful “have a nice day”.

It’s the people that buys a cart full of stuff like 100 items that skip the scan of items. I see their stuff jammed packed everywhere in the cart and always wonder how they scan it bc it’s jammed packed and thrown everywhere in the cart. You can’t even see the items let along scan. Cashiers always let those people with 100 items in the cart go. While I have 3 items or people with less than 15 items. They scanned multiple repeated items on receipt and take forever to let us exit. But they let the people with 100 items slide they quick. I guess the workers don’t want to deal with people with cart full of stuff bc too much work so they pretend to focus much time checking receipts of people with 3 items in the cart or anyone less than 15 😂 as it is less work

But seriously, it’s the ones with 100 items in their cart that be stealing not the people with 15 items as u can easily see their cart vs people with 100 items, their stuff are put everywhere in the cart. I can’t even see what they have so I wonder how they can scan everything in that mess lol

there is good and bad about this, the good is very convenient and can control the thieves ,the bad side is loosing people Job Ai taking over human job,and the control of technology is the control who can buy and who can sell ,which is connected to the Book of Revelation the end time of controlling of buying and selling, the marking of the beast connected to the Ai!!

They started this at my store in Waco. There are still two receipt checkers, it just informs them if the Automated check was successful or if they need to scan anything to verify. I did notice the lines moving faster from it. I was using scan and go and it still verified my purchase.

We have them in Temple Texas with two employees standing there as well. So far no lines and I’ve been free to pass every time without further scanning!!

Thanks for the update on how these scanners have been working at your location, Ruth. ❤️
