Sam’s Club’s Newest Checkout Technology Means No More Waiting in Line w/ a Receipt!
Sam’s Club will no longer check physical receipts at the door. Here’s the scoop on their new solution!
The store is introducing a faster way to check Sam’s Club receipts!
Sam’s Club is introducing new technology that will make your shopping experience even better (and more efficient)! Instead of a greeter checking your paper receipt or app as you leave the store, Sam’s Club is introducing a new scanning technology that will verify you paid for the items in your cart.
That means the time you wait in line to head out of the store will be virtually non-existent! 🙌
Sam’s Club is the pioneer retailer to start using this technology at exits. The technology is being launched in 10 of their stores. According to Retail Drive, 9 stores are in Dallas and one is in Joplin, MO.
If successful, Sam’s Club plans to roll it out to all 600 stores by the end of 2024!
How does the new Sam’s Club scanning technology work?
Stores using the technology will have a device to walk through as you exit the store (it kind of reminds us of walking through airport security). As you pass through it, the new technology – a onlinebination of artificial intelligence and onlineputer vision technology – scans your items and verifies your payment. 😱
The technology appears to be promising as customers at the pilot locations are already seeing some benefits. Plus, being AI-based, the technology has the ability to learn and improve by the time the technology is rolled out to all the clubs.
How does this scanning technology benefit Sam’s Club members?
Previously, all members had to wait in a queue to exit the store so Sam’s Club greeters could manually check member receipts against the items in the cart. The wait time due to this process is a frequent customer onlineplaint.
Sam’s Club hopes this scanning technology will improve the customer experience in multiple ways. Customers will get out of the store faster and Sam’s Club greeters will be freed up to help customers truly in need.
Are you a Sam’s Club member? How do you feel about this new change?
