Have you heard about the newest rise in Netflix prices? 🤑

The Standard Plan has increased from $15.49 to $17.99/month. Meanwhile, the Premium Plan increased from $22.99 to $24.99/month. That means from 2023 to 2025, the new standard plan increased prices by $30 per year!🤯

2025 Netflix Price Hikes at a Glance:

  • Standard with Ads -> Increasing from $6.99 to $7.99/month

The price increase follows a boost in Netflix subscriptions. 🤔

The last quarter of 2024 was a major success for Netflix attributed to the Mike Tyson and Jake Paul boxing match in November and Squid Games Season 2, which now puts the streaming giant at a whopping 302 million subscribers.

It’s clear Netflix is dominating the streaming services world which gives them leverage to hike their prices.

Though it seems everything these days is getting more expensive, we felt it our duty to let Hip readers know of this recent price change. If you need to change your plan or update your payment method, now is the time!

What do you think of the recent price increases? Do you plan to keep Netflix as a streaming service or downgrade your plan? 🤔 We’d love to hear your thoughts!

I probably would have ditched them with this price hike but Verizon offered a deal that includes Netflix with ads and Max for $10 (total). Not sure if it was because I added their internet service or because I’ve been a long time customer. It was in the perks/deals section one day. You don’t have to cancel your current subscriptions if you already have one, so check your Verizon account for the deal. All I had to do was “link” my accounts. I already get Disney/Hulu for free through Verizon too.

thank you!! i see it on my account

    • Jessica (Hip Sidekick)

Thanks so much for sharing this, Raquel! 🤗 That sounds like an awesome offer in your account—definitely worth checking out for Verizon customers. Appreciate you taking the time to share! 💕

We have been a customer since 2002. Around 12 years ago theyvtoldvus we would be grandfathered in with the 5.99 price. That we were one of their oldest customers. Theyvraised it last year and I didn’t say anything. But another raise I calledvthem and the guy was not nice. He said we aren’t doing the Grandfathering any longer. My billbwould raise to the regular price. So I told him after 22 years, customers don’t mean anything to you. And I quit! They just only care about themselves!

I switched over to the plan with ads such a good price. I don’t mind ads gives me a chance to get up & stretch my legs & other things.

    • Jessica (Hip Sidekick)

Great point, Liz! I don’t mind ads in my streaming for the same reason – it’s a good reason to get up and do other things. Thanks for sharing about your plan and why you enjoy it. ❤️

    • Jessica (Hip Sidekick)

That’s a great perk of being a T-Mobile customer, Elizabeth! Thanks for sharing. 💕 We have more details on that freebie linked here too.

    • JillKristen

Really? Since when? I get free Hulu with ads with my t mobile. I know Verizon does free Netflix with ads.

Hi, What’s the difference between a premium and standard plan?

    • Mandy

The premium allows you to watch on four devices at once. The standard plan allows for two devices at once. Premium is good if there are a lot of people in the house.

      • Jessica (Hip Sidekick)

Appreciate you hopping into the onlinements to share this helpful response, Mandy! So appreciated! 🥰

302 million subscribers at the lowest rate (BEFORE the increase) of 6.99 per month is $2,110,980,000!!!

  11. L

Last year we were spending $12 per month for no ads. No way are we spending $18 for the same! Two tips for those considering downgrading:
1: Many movies rated G, PG, or PG-13 are available through a Kids profile. Kids profiles do not show ads, even for the with-ads plan.
2: Even though they say it includes access to all the same content, on the with-ads plan a number of movies and shows are “locked” and unavailable for streaming. There are lists online of what is locked, make sure nothing on your watchlist is on there before switching!

    • Trish (Hip Sidekick)

Thanks a bunch for sharing these helpful tips, L! 💞

    • Laura

I had no idea but I’ll gladly watch on the kids profile to avoid ads. Thanks for the tip!

  12. Lynn

I’ll be cancelling after I finish The Crown. Enough is enough. Most of the shows we watch are through our Britbox subscription anyway. We won’t miss Netflix.
