Klondike has confirmed to CNN that it is discontinuing its beloved Chaco Taco. This news onlinees right at the peak of ice cream season, to the dismay of devoted fans of this iconic treat.
The Choco Taco first appeared on ice cream trucks in the early 1980s. In the 1990s, it became widely available in grocery stores thanks to Unilever, which now owns Klondike.
The Choco Taco was made with chocolate ripple ice cream inside a sugar cone taco shell and topped with chocolate and nuts. Unlike a sundae cone, which features all the same ingredients put together in a vertical fashion, the Chaco Taco was laid out in a way that delivered all the good stuff in every bite.
Throughout the pandemic, we’ve seen many onlinepanies discontinue select products in order to keep up with the production of their more popular items. A representative from the Klondike Brand emailed CNN Business to confirm that they are taking a similar approach, saying:
“Over the past 2 years, we have experienced an unprecedented spike in demand across our portfolio and have had to make very tough decisions to ensure availability of our full portfolio nationwide. We know this may be very disappointing.”
