Thanks to a high price tag, Dollar Tree is no longer selling eggs.

Eggs are just too expensive these days. Even Dollar Tree can’t afford them. The onlinepany tries to keep prices around $1.25. Though the cost of eggs is starting to onlinee down, it’s still too high for Dollar Tree to offer a dozen at such a low price.

Instead of raising the prices at their stores or paying clerks to frequently adjust the price stickers, Dollar Tree has opted to halt the sale of their eggs altogether. A spokesperson for the onlinepany told Reuters that they don’t anticipate carrying eggs in their stores until at least fall. With over 8,000 Dollar Tree stores nationwide, this change is sure to impact many households.

Unfortunately for budget-conscious consumers, this announcement is onlineing right before the Easter holiday. If your family was planning on dying Easter eggs, making deviled eggs, or whipping up an egg salad for Easter, you’ll need to look elsewhere.

If you’re wondering what caused egg prices to soar, it’s mostly due to the avian flu impacting supply. The deadliest avian flu in history recently occurred and more than 50 million birds died as a result.

In addition to the lack of supply, recent inflation has also impacted the price of eggs. According to CNN Business, egg prices for consumers were up 55% as recently as February. 😱
