Was Your Information Accessed in the 2019 Capital One Data Breach? Submit Your Claim by September 30th.
Back in July 2019, Capital One announced that it had been the victim of a criminal cyberattack on its systems allowing an attacker to gain unauthorized access to the personal information of over 98 million U.S. consumers. Some of the information accessed included names, addresses, zip codes/postal codes, phone numbers, email addresses, dates of birth, Social Security numbers and even linked bank account numbers.
Capital One has since agreed to pay $190,000,000 into a Settlement Fund that will be used to make cash payments for out-of-pocket losses and lost time and to purchase identity defense services and restoration services for all Settlement Class Members.
Note that if you received a notice from Capital One, you are likely a member of the Settlement Class. You can also confirm you are a Settlement Class Member, and eligible for benefits, by calling 1-855-604-1811 or you can contact the Settlement Administrator at [email protected] .
If you are an eligible Settlement Class Member, you may submit a claim for one or more of these benefits (Claims must be submitted online or mailed by September 30, 2022!):
- Identity Defense Services
- Cash Reimbursement for money spent trying to avoid or recover from fraud or identity theft and/or for lost time trying to avoid or recover from fraud or identity theft.
