   You no longer get back $2 per ink cartridge. That was eliminated with the new program. Now it is only 100 points so rather than $20 my 10 ink cartridges only gives about $8. I was very disappointed in the new rewards program.

   It seems that Staples is in financial trouble and grasping at straws to hold on and the “Easy Rewards” program is the new flavor of the day. As a small business owner, I spend enough each year to qualify as “premier” status. Under their old reward program I received 5% back in rewards on all purchases. Now one has to constantly check their account to see what items have bonus points. They are also harassing their customers to install their app with some belief that keeping the customer constantly engaged will result in more sales. Many may not know that the reason you are pressured to install their app is because they make more money data mining your private information. Also, one has to spend $200 to earn $1.00 of rewards. Add that to the fact that toner recycling has been been reduced by 75%, from $2.00 to 50 cents each, I am not a fan of the new program. For small business owners who spend significant sums on office supplies and toner, this is a negative and not a positive. And at one time the reason to go to the store was to get expert advise, especially when making big purchases, such as onlineputers and printers. Now it is almost impossible to find anyone to help.

   Too bad most info in this article is either old or just plain wrong.

   Those who have a Staples Plus paid membership, will still get $2 each for 20 empty ink carts, until your paid membership runs out. It is now paid out within about 2-3 minutes. Staples will not let you renew your Plus paid membership, so it will run out, and your back to basic. The only way to get better status is to spend a lot at Staples.

   There is no longer a requirement to buy $50 worth of ink every 180 days, that is gone.

   Unpaid, normal rewards recycle are 50 cents each for up to 10 ink carts a month, 100 points each. So $5 for 10 empties. Most times you will get a $10 off $30 purchase coupon as well, for that day only on tech recycle. Use this to save $10 when you redeem some rewrads.

   Tech recycle is one time per month, and gives $5 a month for one item, this is also paid out in 2-3 minutes

   You can use any amount of rewards, whole $ only, on your purchases. You no longer need to use the entire rewards balance and forfeit the rest

   Hint. anyone who purchased ink or toner to satisfy the ink purchase requirement of the old system, you can return them to the store and get 100% refund. All Staples ink is returnable until the expire date, so yes even months old purchases are ok to return.

   rewards are good for 18 months and keep going on a new 18 month expire date every time you earn or use points. So you can save up for a large item, example, If you want a laptop, you can just bank points until your ready.

   Loren – do you work for Staples? I cannot see anything wrong with any of the onlinements posted. While the rewards program may be working for you, no one was mentioning the Staples Plus Membership program, but rather the average consumer. I may not have been a math major, but in my calculations, reducing the toner cartridge recycling rebate from $2.00 to 50 cents is not beneficial. You stated that one earns $5.00 for 10 empties – the old program would have provided $20.00

   And for normal everyday purchases, one has to purchase $200 to earn $1.00 of rewards – it will take a long time to collect enough rewards to make a big purchase!

  Sally, I am far too lazy to work for Staples. I didnt say anything was wrong in the onlinements, its the article thats not correct in so many ways, even the link goes to the old $50 ink purchase requirement.

  Being a paid Plus member, I get $40 a month for 20 empties, and $5 for tech recycle, for $45 a month. I have 5 months left on my paid membership. Feb was a double dip month, I took in 20 on the 5th–the old system, and again later 20 more on the new system. I could have about $250 by July

  There are many offers for large amounts of points, example___ half back on a printer priced at $100 or more. If you want to buy ink, half back on $50+ of ink or toner.

  I am not a fan of the new plan, but its the only one Staples offers, and where else can you get free money for giving someone ink carts and dead batteries? I didnt like it when it changed the last 5-6 times, but I adapted to make it onlinee out the best for me.

  When my paid Plus membership runs out, I will be down to $5 for 10 carts and $5 for tech recycle, and its only $20 for the two of us a month. Good thing its next to one of our normal grocery stores, so no extra running around for the $20 a month.
