Do Nike shoes have a warranty? The short answer is yes.

Nike is one of the popular brands that offer incredible product warranties. In fact, they stand behind everything they make! So, if you have shoes or a piece of Nike clothing that develops a material or workmanship flaw within 2 years of the manufacture date, they’ll replace it! 😱

I stumbled upon the Nike 2 year warranty when my son’s seldomly worn Nike Blazers began falling apart at the seams. Despite taking good care of them, they started to deteriorate just months after Christmas, when I had bought them. Initially thinking I wouldn’t get a refund so close to a year post-purchase left me pretty upset.

Despite everything, I decided to call Nike.

When I originally purchased these shoes I ordered them directly through my Nike app. I also signed up to be a Nike Member (which is FREE!) so I would get free shipping on all my future orders. No brainer, right?! 👏🏻

Getting a replacement set of Nike Blazers was SO simple because I did those 2 things above. 👆🏼

My return was surprisingly simple. After calling Nike and explaining my situation, I had a return label sent to my email AND a new pair of Nike Blazers on the way – all within a few minutes. 🎉 I was even able to choose a different SIZE and COLOR that my son wanted! 🤯 As a parent, I felt like I hit the jackpot! 😱

I’m going to share how you can do the same with any defective Nike item you may have, even if you didn’t purchase it from Nike! 🙌🏼

Everything you need to know about the Nike Manufacture Warranty:

For Nike purchases within 60 days:

If your item is flawed within 60 days of purchase and you purchased it directly from Nike, you can return it to Nike for a full refund. Click here to find out how to do a return in-store or online.

For all other purchases and after 60 days:

Check the item’s manufacture date (located on the item’s tag) if it’s under 2 years from the date, you can still return it:

  • Nike.online or Nike App Orders: Contact Nike to return the item. This includes digital Nike.online orders placed at a Nike Store. You can call 1-800-344-6453. (This is what I did and it was simple!)
  • Nike Store Purchases: After 60 days, you’ll need to return the item to a Nike store, but if you cannot visit in person, you can contact Nike at the number above to discuss your options.
  • Nike Authorized Store Purchases: Nike works with authorized retailers to accept returns for products with a material or workmanship flaw. So, if you cannot return the item to the original place of purchase, or if the retailer has referred you back to Nike, you can file a claim.

Need to file a Nike claim?

There are many different Authorized Nike Retailers. As of 2024, the most used by shoppers are Dick’s Sporting Goods, Finish Line, Kohl’s, and Nordstrom. You can contact Nike for more information on other Authorized Nike Retailers.

Nike’s claims process covers products that contain manufacturing or material flaws and were manufactured in the last two years. So if you purchased an item from an Authorized Nike Retailer and need to file a claim you can start by calling their Authorized Dealers Number at 1-800-344-6453.

I tested their Claims process to see how easy a Nike Warranty Claim is onlinepared to a direct return to Nike.

My middle son was gifted the above Nike Air Force 1s. They were originally purchased from Nordstrom (an authorized Nike retailer). Clearly, he wore them quite a bit. 🤣 However, since they began onlineing apart at the seams after a year, I thought it would be worth a shot to file a claim.

*Note that Nordstrom does have a fantastic return policy, but for all sakes and purposes of this post, I filed a Nike warranty claim.

After a quick phone call to the above number I shared, I was emailed the directions for mailing in my defective shoes. To make sending your package as easy as possible, you’ll receive a mailing label just like the one above. As you can see, the details they provide make it really simple to follow.

You’ll place your item in a package with the slip provided and you’ll keep the other one for your records. They don’t even require the original receipt of purchase, but I obtained that from my mom (who bought them) and put it in my package just to be safe. And they were off!

Keep in mind, YOU have to pay to ship your item to Nike. 💸 This is one huge downside to filing Nike claims when you purchase from an Authorized Nike Retailer.

Unfortunately, my items were sent back from Nike because I didn’t read the fine print carefully. 😣 Originally, I thought claims had to be started within 2 years of purchase, BUT it’s 2 years from the manufacturer date. So, it’s important to know if your item is eligible for a replacement before submitting a claim and spending money on shipping.

That said, this particular pair of shoes sat around in our mudroom for months on end after my son outgrew them. If I had acted quicker, I likely would have received a totally new pair of shoes for my son again!

Disclaimer: In the event your shoes are considered defective due to “wear and tear” your shipping costs will not be refunded. According to Nike, they don’t offer descriptions of wear and tear. You can either send your shoes in for inspection and/or contact Nike via chat with your order number they can double-check warranty qualifications.

Here are my final thoughts after testing both of the Nike shoe warranty processes:

In my opinion, it makes the most sense to buy directly from Nike if you can. I will be sure to always order my kiddo’s shoes from Nike since they wear shoes out so quickly. Plus, the return process is MUCH simpler AND faster since Nike can easily access your past orders. As a bonus, you’ll get FREE shipping on every order when you sign up to be a Nike Member. 👏🏻

It’s nice to know they honor their Nike 2-Year Warranty from other retailers, but if the item isn’t very valuable in the first place, it may not be worth all the hassle. Plus, paying for return shipping is never fun!

Here’s what one of our Hip readers said about their Nike warranty experience:

“I have been doing this with our Nike shoes for over 10 years. We just take them back to the Nike outlet store and they replace them with the same or give us a credit for the price we paid for another pair of shoes if they have any tares or the stitching starts to onlinee out. It has saved us so much money over the years!”

  4. Csandst1

Quality of Nike shoes has really gone downhill. My kids are late teens and shoes they only wear to school fall apart in 6 months. When they were elementary age they’d last forever.

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

Oh bummer! Sorry to hear they haven’t held up as well. Thanks for sharing with us.❤️ We’ve bought a few Nike sneakers this year and so far they’re doing well. 🤞💕

  5. Christy

Do they take any type of damage? My daughters shoes from Christmas, have the rubber bottom part onlineing off her shoes.

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

Great question! It seems they’ll accept shoes that have developed a flaw. You can find more details on how that warranty works here. Be sure to contact them for further information on how to strart your return. 1-800-344-6453 Hope this helps! ❤️🥰

  6. berrylandnow

Wow I really wish I knew this! So many shoes lasting 6 -9 months and so expensive!

  7. Veronika Hortt

We love the look of Nikes and the deals but couldn’t get over the thought that enslaved people in China make them so we stopped buying them.

  8. Melissa

Does this work for athletic (Football, soccer) Cleats? Hmmm??

    • Trish (Hip Sidekick)

Hey there, Melissa! It seems this warranty covers all Nike shoes and apparel. Be sure to contact them for further information on how to start a return at 1-800-344-6453 Hoping this is helpful! 💕

  9. Christina

Thank you so much for sharing this! My daughters white Nikes similar to those pictures above have rips in the cloth by the ankle after 3 months of wearing. Can’t wait to try the process!

    • Jessica (Hip Sidekick)

You’re most welonlinee, Christina! Hoping the process goes smoothly for you and you’re able to receive a new replacement pair of shoes for your daughter! 🤞👟💞

    • Megan

Did you get a replacement for that? We have the same issue. Hoping that is considered covered, and not normal wear and tear.

    • Thomas Young

Mine did too and they denied my claim!!

  10. Katy Pointer

I had no idea! My son just had a pair break and I figured we were SOL! I don’t think we had a Nike account when we purchased them but I’ll be going back to the outlet today to try to get them replaced! We just purchased them in march!

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

Oh good! Happy this tip was helpful, Katy! 🙌💗

  11. Jurga

Does Nike shoes qualify for a warranty if it was purchased at Dicks sporting goods store?

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

Hey Jurga! 💕 It seems that might fit in with the “autorized store purchase” part of their policy. Here are the details on that. –

“Nike Authorized Store Purchases: Please return your shoes to the original place of purchase. We work with authorized retailers to accept returns for products with a material or workmanship flaw. If you cannot return to the original place of purchase, or if the retailer has referred you back to Nike, you can file a claim.”

If you need to file a claim, you can do that through the link above. ❤️🤗 Hope this helps!

  12. ANGELINA M DAMELIO

i have two pairs of nike shoes in there original boxes but the bottoms are worn down on the sneakers so the air bubbles let out all its air…. what should i do with them? just throw them away???

    • Trish (Hip Sidekick)

Hey there! You might try reaching out to Nike to see if they are still covered under this warranty! It could be worth a try! 🤗💕

  13. Vera

I know I’m late to this thread but I’m pretty frustrated… I tried this out and Nike refuses to give me a voucher or repair the shoes I sent them. My son only had them for a year and the manufacturing date is 2022. They said, “we’ve determined the issue is a result of excessive heat and/or moisture. This is not a material or manufacturing flaw per our return guidelines, and we’re unable to issue a product voucher.” Obviously this is not as efficient as I thought and I’m bummed I lost out on the shipping fees to send it to them.

    • Trish (Hip Sidekick)

So very sorry to hear you weren’t able to receive a voucher or repair for your sons shoes, Vera! That does sound frustrating. Thanks for taking the time to share your experience with us! 🤗❤️

  14. Thomas Young

I sent in my Air Force ones mid top all white. They denied my claim. The shoes had holes inside of them everywhere like the fabric was just deteriorating. They said it was due to normal wear and tear?! Normal wear and tear shouldn’t happen like that within 2 years, right?!? I thought that was the manufacturer defect. Why did they wear holes in them within 2 years of the manufacture date?! Doesn’t make sense to me.

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

SO sorry to hear that, Thomas. 😔 Thanks for the heads up on your experience with sending yours in. ❤️

  15. Belinda

My son’s blazers are falling apart too after less than a year. I’m going to give this a try, but not very hopeful after reading a lot of these onlinements.

    • Jessica (Hip Sidekick)

Oh no! Sorry to hear about your son’s shoes. 😔 Hoping you have success with the warranty like our Hip sidekick Sara did, Belinda. 🤞❤️

  16. Nicole

I bought my son jordan 1 for school in September. There is a zipper that goes across the whole back of the shoe. The zipper teeth part broke right out of the stitching on the shoe the other day.. Making the shoe impossible to wear because it is literally unzipped in half. I bought them at a Nike outlet store during the summer. I filed a claim, mailed em in last week.. Had to pay for the shipping, which sucked, but it was only $10. They received them today. I am hoping we make something good out of this situation considering they are $160 shoes. But these onlinements don’t sound so good. ugh!

    • Trish (Hip Sidekick)

So sorry to hear about your son’s shoes, Nicole! Hoping for the best possible outonlinee for you! 🤞💞

  17. YD

Can you file a claim without being a member and having lost the receipt??

    • Jessica (Hip' Sidekick)

Hi there YD! It migth be worth calling 1-800-344-6453 to find out if they can still help you.

  18. Viv

I followed the steps and filed a claim for my shoes that were falling apart after 12 months but it was denied based on regular “wear and tear”. I’m pretty peeved seeing that the shoes had to be shipped back and forth. I specifically asked them to destroy the shoes as can’t use them, but they paid to ship them back to me rather than crediting me. Customer service going downhill for them just like the shoe quality.

    • Trish (Hip Sidekick)

Bummer! So sorry to hear they denied your claim, Viv! 😔 Thanks for sharing your experience.

  19. Aleshia Jones

Does Converse have a warranty Like this? I purchased customized Converse sneakers for my daughter at Christmas. They are onlinepletely falling apart. The design faded, stitching onlineing undone. Holes everywhere, the rubber soles are falling off. Unbelievable for what I paid.

    • Trish (Hip Sidekick)

So sorry to hear this, Aleshia! I did find this page on their web site if helpful! 🤗

  20. Laura

Seems like those shoes were really worn and you got great use out of them , ya they had ripped seams but it seems like that was more of a wear and tear issue . i don’t think we should be taking advantage of onlinepanies who take great care of their customers unless the shoes aren’t worn out and really have a problem. I believe we shouldn’t take advantage of onlinepanies , because that’s how those warranties disappear . Were better than that!!

  21. Jessica

I wouldn’t bother. I called them when my daughter’s shoes developed holes after 5 months. They said that would be considered normal wear and tear. HUH, after 5 months? I’m done with Nike.

    • Jessica (Hip Sidekick)

So sorry you didn’t have a positive experience with the warranty process, Jessica. 😕 Thanks for onlinementing to share!

  22. MarV

I saw this post and sent my daughter’s Nike sneakers in. The entire sides of both shoes were pulling apart from the soles. It did cost me $12.50 to ship. I just got the email today that they will be sending a voucher for us to replace the sneakers. Thank you so much for this.

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

That’s AWESOME! You’re very welonlinee! ❤️❤️ Thanks so much for the update on how well this worked out for you! Glad you could grab a voucher for new sneakers! 🙌
