   At these prices, it’s worth getting an air conditioner even if your home has central air. We all know that your central air only breaks when there’s a heat spell and everyone in the city is trying to get an appointment with the HVAC people. (Murphy’s Law) This can buy you some onlinefort while waiting for the repairman to get there!

   My central AC went out, it was old and no longer worth paying someone to recharge the freon. I called around for a new unit and every place I called said start at 6K. My house is small (1,000 sq ft) and I couldn’t justify spending a minimum of 6K, so I purchase one large window unit that cools the kitchen, living room and hallway, and one small window until that cools all of the bedrooms. My children are young so we don’t mind sleeping with the bedroom doors open.
