Help Grimace celebrate his birthday at McDonald’s!

Head to McDonald’s because the Grimace Birthday Meal is available at participating restaurants nationwide for around $10. This special meal onlinees with your choice of a Big Mac or a 10-Piece Chicken McNuggets, fries, and a limited-edition purple shake inspired by Grimace himself.

While there has been lots of speculation, there’s still no official word from McDonald’s on the purple shake’s flavor. We’re still hearing that it’s inspired by Grimace’s color and sweetness.

McDonald’s Grimace meal isn’t the only way to celebrate his birthday.

In addition, today June 12th, the official Grimace video game in collaboration with Krool Toys has launched. This game allows players to immerse themselves in Grimace’s world and it will be free to play on desktop and mobile.

And if you were thinking about getting Grimace a birthday gift, what he really wants this year is donations to Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC). From June 13 – 14, fans can visit McDonald’s Instagram story and share a picture of their favorite birthday memory via the “add yours” sticker. For every photo shared, McDonald’s will donate $5 to RMHC, up to $200k!

Who is Grimace anyway?

Not familiar with Grimace? He originally appeared in the McDonald’s McDonaldland onlinemercials along with his best friend Ronald McDonald. He’s also been seen in Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade, as a Happy Meal toy, in Super Bowl onlinemercials, and more!

Some of the mystery surrounding this fuzzy purple character was finally unlocked when a McDonald’s manager revealed that Grimace is actually “an enormous taste bud.” Others have imagined him to be “the embodiment of a milkshake,” which may be one reason why McDonald’s fans are so excited about the new purple milkshake!

$10 is too much for McDonalds

  2. Grandma

I just took my 4 grandchild to McDonalds for a Grimace Birthday meal and it was $14.59 each in Grafton, Ohio. They were disappointed but that would be almost $60.00 for 4 kids. Shameful!!!!

    • Jessica (Hip Sidekick)

Thanks so much for sharing about the pricing for this meal near you, Grandma! πŸ’— Hoping there might be some offers in the app to score this meal for a bit less soon! 🀞

This is what happened with the Adult Happy Meal. I have a Tween and she was insistent on getting one. Thankfully they were sold out. They wanted about $17 in my area for one. I told her I could get her a regular meal and if she really needed a toy, she could get one at the dollar store for half the price in total. She decided she didn’t need it that bad.

I think these are supposed to be more geared to the adults that grew up with Grimace in onlinemercials and happy meal toys – but what kid doesn’t want a shake. And now, most kids can eat a big mac or 10 piece by themselves.

      • JenB

They used to let people buy the toys separately at $1 or $1.15, they might still do that.

      • jacaroe

I think a lot of that is because the “Big” Mac is about half the size it was 20 years ago. :\

The shake tastes like blueberries and cream

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

That does sound yummy! πŸ˜‹ Thanks for sharing how it tastes. I haven’t tried it yet!

Heads up the Mc Donald’s app is down nationwide def not working in south Florida lol 5:02 pm 6/13

    • Jessica (Hip Sidekick)

Bummer! I’m seeing a pop-up too on the app that it “may be temporarily unavailable periodically on June 13th.” Hoping that it starts working again for your locations soon, Christine! πŸ€žπŸ’œ

Just a heads up. This special onlinebo is $15 plus some change where I live. In the app it states you can only order the purple shake in the meal. We asked and they told us we could order separately. $2.59 for a small and it was rather large. My two youngest kids 10 and 15 loved them. They stated that they tasted like huckleberry shakes πŸ™‚ It was fun for them and cost us much less.

    • Jessica (Hip Sidekick)

Thanks so much for the update, Mama6! πŸ’œ So awesome that you were able to score the shakes without the meal and your kiddos enjoyed them! πŸ€—

  6. Erika

We ordered it today to share for $13 and change in LA. You do get to pick the size of the shake, which may be why some are paying more.
HOLY expletives! That shake was impossible to drink. It was crazy sweet. Yes, it did taste like berries but also like cough syrup.

    • Jessica (Hip Sidekick)

Thanks for letting us know how the order process was, Erika! Good to know that there was an option for you to choose the shake size with your meal. πŸ€— Sorry to hear the shake was too sweet for your liking. Glad you tried it out to report back on the taste! πŸ’œ

  7. dwascavage

This is not meant to be a Happy Meal. Like other “adult” Meals, it onlinees with either a Big Mac or 10 McNuggets. Also, there is no toy included.
