Today, August 26th is National Dog Day, so if you’re out and about with your furry friend and want to celebrate, we’ve rounded up a list of restaurants that offer FREE or inexpensive dog treats! One of these treats is pup cups, which are cups of either vanilla ice cream or whipped cream. Regardless of the treat, your furry friend will love it!
If you can’t make it out for a treat today, no worries – these goodies are available year-round!
Note that these items or freebies may only be available at some locations, so be sure to check with your local establishment before making a special trip.
IMPORTANT NOTE – Since a few of these items aren’t “official” dog food products, be sure to consult your veterinarian before feeding your pet something new to avoid an upset stomach. Some treats are also not meant for small dogs so they should only have a lick or two!
1. Stop by Freddy’s Frozen Custard and Steakburgers for a vanilla custard pup cup.
Cruise over to Freddy’s Frozen Custard and Steakburgers, where your furry BFF can lap up a FREE frozen vanilla custard pup cup.
2. Try a Starbucks pup cup, aka a Puppuccino.
Next time you’re at Starbucks with your dog, ask the barista for a “Puppuccino” and you’ll receive a free short-sized cup of whipped cream for your pup to enjoy.
3. Sonic pup cups are potentially part of a secret canine menu.
If you’re near a Sonic Drive-In with your dog, consider letting them know your furry friend is with you as they may even bring a dog treat to your car when delivering your meal for free! The secret canine menu varies at each location but most of the time it’s a whipped cream dessert or a scoop of vanilla ice cream. A tail-wagger for sure! 😉
4. A Dunkin’ pup cup latte will perk up your furry friend.
If you’re heading to Dunkin’ Donuts with your dog, select drive-thrus may keep free dog treats handy. This local Dunkin’ Donuts/Baskin Robbins offered a puppy latte (whipped cream in a cup) or a free “munchkin” donut hole.

8. A Puppy Patty In N Out is always in season!
If you have an In-N-Out Burger restaurant nearby, you can order a “Pup Patty” for under $1 that features a plain hamburger patty without any salt added and is served in a doggy bag.
9. Doggy burgers are a hit at Johnny Rockets.
At Johnny Rockets restaurants, dogs are always welonlinee. You can order a plain hamburger patty (fee applies) and even ask for a fresh bowl of water for your pup when you sit in the outdoor patio area.
