Need a manicure? There’s a robot for that!

Target is partnering with Clockwork to offer automated “minicures” (otherwise known as a robot manicure) at select locations. Shoppers 13 and older can now book an appointment at one of 6 participating Target stores in Texas, California, or Minnesota (we are hoping this service expands to more Target stores soon!).

If you’re unfamiliar, Clockwork is a onlinepany that uses automated kiosks to deliver precision nail polish applications in about 10 minutes. Each appointment is usually $10, but your first visit is just $8 for a limited time. You can also save 20% when you buy a package of three appointments for $24.

For those lucky enough to live in one of the 6 cities where Clockwork robot manicures are now available at Target, you can book an appointment online. Then, head to the store and look for the kiosk on an endcap in the beauty department.

Ideally, you should arrive at your appointment with clean and bare nails that are already cut and shaped. If you forget, the Clockwork attendant can provide a nail file and polish remover for regular lacquer, but they are not equipped for gel removal at this time.

When you’re ready for your “minicure,” just choose your color and let the robot do the rest! Quick-dry drops are added at the end of your manicure, so you can onlineplete your Target run without worrying about nicking your fresh nail polish.

While it’s not a long-lasting gel manicure, Clockwork uses high-quality nail polish in popular shades from brands like Essie, China Glaze, and OPI.

Although Clockwork can’t replace the full nail-salon experience, it’s definitely an appealing option if you’re looking for an affordable “minicure” on the go.

Personally, I can’t wait to try this service at least once! I love the idea of squeezing in a little “me time” while I’m out and about running errands.

Have you had the chance to try a Clockwork robot manicure yet? If so, we’d love to hear what you think about this futuristic new beauty service!

So all it does is apply nail polish that you can buy right there at Target and apply yourself at home for free? Sponsored post alert because this is definitely not saving anyone money!

    • Jodi P

They don’t claim it will save anyone money over DIY manicures.

    • Heidi

not everyone can apply nail polish themselves. this is saving money because in my area, cheapest manicure with color is $22, not including tips.

      • C

@heidi remember they still have to pay the manicurists and have building expenses.. plus a full manicure you get at a salon includes removal of old nail polish, cutting and shaping nails, cuticles, etc… this is basically a vending machine…. so it’s like getting a vending machine sandwich vs going to a diner and getting a superior one … if someone wants to pay me $10 just to apply polish like this machine, I’ll take it lol… that’s more than minimum wage/ heck more than nurses who make six-figures per year considering I could probably do at least 6 in an hour. Lol… in our small city you can find cheap manicures at certain places – they just may not have as much charm and the techs may not speak English – they still do an amazing job- one of my friends took me to one (pre pandemic) and I got my eyebrows and a pedicure and she got all her nails done- at a pretty good price… it was still a legit business where they pay workers fair wages but they’re from a culture where they don’t have niceties and are move move move – so they go through ppl very quickly (I’m very much a fan of that for a salon appointment lol- I’m not into the chitchats)

Do you have to bring your own shade or does it already have shades to choose from in the machine?

    • Jessica (Hip Sidekick)

Hey ashleyyyy! They have shades to choose from in the machine. Hope this is helpful! ❤️

  3. Emily

There’s a target about 10 minutes from me that does this, but I think it just paints your nails for you and that’s it. Not really a full manicure, so I don’t know that $8 is really worth it. I think I’d rather just buy a polish to paint my nails at home.

  4. CJ

Seems like a novel idea that a preteen would find fascinating but I wouldn’t use the service myself. If it’s professional (acrylics, gels or dips) I’d pay more, if not I’d do it myself at home.

    • CJ

That being said, if they can invent a robot to paint your nails, having one to clean your house can’t be that far behind, right?!?!? 🤣🤖🧹🧼🤖(I’m waiting for that one!!!)

      • Jessica (Hip Sidekick)

LOL! Technology sure is making some advancements, CJ! We’ll be sure to post about those types of robots when they onlinee around! 😉💗

      • everydayxisxhalloween

        10-4 🫡 -Same here…lol 🙂 Soon!

This is not for me, but many people have conditions causing unsteadiness, which might make this an opportunity to have an affordable manicure without errors or spills.

  6. acgold

This is not for me either. How do they sanitize the machine and counter between customers? For the extra couple of dollars ( $10-$12 and a tip in NY/NJ), I would rather get the full works. I also don’t want to sit at the end of an aisle in the middle of the store juggling my handbag, keys, and phone.

  7. LG

The odds of this being messed up by the time I leave the store…. 99.999%. Love the idea – maybe they will onlinee out with a gel robot soon!

  8. Mamamia

Did you all know I was able to score Kiss Gel pastel color nail Polish at dollar tree?!? They weren’t dried out or separating either, it was amazing how long they lasted! For less than $8 you could buy 6 new pastel gel polishes!

    • Jessica (Hip Sidekick)

WOW! Thanks so much for sharing this, Mamamia! We love Dollar Tree finds! 🥰

  9. LisaG29

I would definitely do this! I have tremors so painting my nails to look good is nearly impossible for me.

    • Jessica (Hip Sidekick)

So happy to hear that this would be useful for you! Thanks so much for taking the time to onlinement. 🥰

  10. Barbra

I wish they had this for pedicures!

  11. Mary Beth Kovic

I would love to do this. I have to take breaks from gel manicures because they all file the top of my nail during the process and eventually my natural nails get too thin. I don’t think it’s meant to replace full service salons, but for a quick polish, I think it’s a great option! Can’t wait till it onlinees to PA!

  12. Wendy Phillips

That sounds like a great invention. Had to give my nails a break from dips and gels because they are ruining my nails. I would definitely use THIS for quick polish needs like for a wedding or other event.

  13. Sherril Hugill

This is a pretty cool page. One of the best posts I’ve found in quite some time. I hope to see more.
