April is World Autism Month!

And all month long, Chuck E. Cheese is teaming up with Autism Speaks to support children, adults, and families in the autism onlinemunity.

According to a recent Facebook post, as part of this month-long event, Chuck E. Cheese will host a nationwide Sensory Sensitive Sundays event on Sunday, April 27TH from 9–11am across the U.S. and Canada–with 20% of sales from the entire day going to Autism Speaks.

Plus, throughout the month, you can help even more by rounding up your in-store or online purchases to support the autism onlinemunity and programs led by Autism Speaks. Every donation counts! You can learn more about Autism Speaks by checking out their website.

What are Sensory Sensitive Sundays at Chuck E. Cheese?

Chuck E. Cheese hosts Sensory Sensitive Sundays at participating locations on the first Sunday of every month, with the next regularly scheduled event on Sunday, April 6th. This program creates a quieter dining and arcade experience for kids with autism and other sensory needs.

On Sensory Sensitive Sundays, Chuck E. Cheese opens two hours early with dimmer lights and lower volume for children who prefer a calmer environment. A specially trained staff works to ensure that every guest has a safe, fun-filled visit. Be sure to check the list of participating locations or call ahead before you stop in.

As a parent of autistic children, it is disappointing to see this as a collaboration with Autism Speaks. There are so many other groups that actually support autistic people that the 20% of sales could be going to.
