I’m a professional astronomer who bought this as a Christmas gift. I was looking for something just a little bigger and higher quality than the standard entry-level telescopes available at your standard big box stores. I was extremely happy with this choice. It was straightforward to assemble, and I was very pleased with what I could see.
I have never seen the phases of Venus clear enough to trust my eyes until now. Venus looked like a skinny crescent moon. The moons of Jupiter were obvious. The rings of Saturn were a little harder to make out, but the wind was blowing. The mount isn’t super sturdy, so hang a weight from it or something. But overall, great value.
