I don’t like when places do this free cash thing. It’s very deceptive but it is in the fine print because that $200 they claim is free you have to claim it on your taxes and they will send you a form for it

  2. JenB

I signed up, thank you! They have great reviews on bank review sites.

      You’re so welonlinee!

  3. Seana

How do you know if you get the card? I donā€™t see where to find out. Hurry up and wait?

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

Hi Seana! I did find this answer in the FAQ of the offer details – ” If a lucky member signs up and is approved for an account, their card will arrive by mail 14-21 days after that approval.” Hoping this is helpful!

      • gentledogwalker

I just called them on the phone because I did just sign up for the checking account but The email I immediately got said it said it will take three or four days to verify my information. And I said how do you sign up for the savings account because I didnā€™t see anywhere to do that. They informed me that when you sign up for the checking account you automatically are signed up for the savings account. Then I asked her would I be included in the 1500 people to sign up if I signed up today but have to wait to be asked more questions and she did not know the answer to that question. And thatā€™s that. Good luck everybody.

        • Jennifer (Hip Sidekick)

I love that you told us what you found out when you called, gentledogwalker. It’s SO appreciated! šŸ™ŒThank YOU for being a valued reader! šŸ˜

I would think you get some type of email confirming your approval. I see this, “Please contact us if it hasnā€™t arrived within 3 weeks of your membership start date.” How else would you know you didn’t get it unless they tell you it’s onlineing? lol I don’t like things that say the first 1500 but you have no idea if the offer has been fully claimed. I don’t want to have to deal with closing it so I’ll pass.

It looks like you only need to open a checking account to get this deal? If that’s the case they have another promotion through Suze Orman with their savings accounts… if you open through her link and make a deposit every month for 12 months of at least $100, they’ll give you a $100 bonus. I just finished my 12 months and already got the bonus. I was using Ally for online savings but Alliant beat their interest rate.

  5. Ariavenew

Iā€™ve had Alliant accounts for about 20 years and they are fantastic. Better interest rates on checking and savings than other banks. have had a mortgage through them and car loans with lower rates than other quotes. Obviously all of this is specific to a given situation, but did want to chime in to say that Iā€™ve been a long time customer and very pleased.

    • Jennifer (Hip Sidekick)

It canā€™t be overstated the sense of gratitude felt by the entire Hip Team for your feedback! šŸ˜Thank YOU!

  6. gentledogwalker

OK today is Thursday, February 17 and I got an email back from the credit union. I had to upload my drivers license or utility bill and my Social Security card. Then it said itā€™ll take 2 to 3 days to get back to me. I donā€™t know if Iā€™ll be included in the 1500 new applicants but itā€™s worth a shot at $200. Iā€™ll keep you posted

  7. Seana

Well. Got the gift card today. Signed up around 4 weeks ago. Just in case anyone wondered how long it takes.

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

Thanks, Seana! We sure appreciate the update!

  8. gentledogwalker

Thank you hip2save. I did get the $200 debit card for free in about three weeks. You donā€™t even have to have a minimum amount to open a checking account like you can just do five dollars and five dollars goes into your savings account. I was able to make a cash deposit through my other credit union ATM as they are linked. I called Alliant and they told me where I could go to make a deposit at an ATM machine to open the account . I really didnā€™t think I would be one of the 1500 people to get this as I got no real notification that anything went through and then I really forgot about it and then I got the $200 card in the mail. Free money. Yahoo!!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

That’s awesome! You’re very welonlinee! Thanks a bunch for the update! SO happy you could score the $200! šŸ’–šŸŽ‰
