PlanetBox lunch boxes are reader-approved & here’s why…

I have been using Planetbox for 5 years since my son was 3. He has autism and doesn’t like foods touching. He also has difficulty opening lids etc. It’s a big expense initially but I love not having to look for lids on a morning when we are pushed for time. The boxes have lasted 5 years and we are graduating to the bigger one – the rover this year. I also love that it’s not plastic, and they are dishwasher safe.

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!! I was waiting for this! They only do it once or twice a year and I’ll be packing lunches for 3 instead of 1 this year, needed extra rovers!!! My first kid has been using it since kindergarten and it’s still like new and is going into 7th grade. These LAST! And they can go in the dishwasher!

I have a Rover that has seen daily abuse for eight years. I jam it full sometimes it hasn’t broken. It goes in the dishwasher regularly if not daily. Last year I made the decision to invest in multiple so I could forget to start the dishwasher and rotate them. They are a bit of an investment but save so much in terms of sanity. No worry about plastic. No worry about junky food (pack straight from the fridge or yesterday’s leftover dinner). The cold packs also saw regular abuse for sporadic injuries, and held up.

We just received our Rover yesterday and it is HEAVY. I love everything about the whole set-up (stainless steel, washability, magnetic utensils, design, etc.) but there’s no way my 5 year old can lug this around. Will definitely reconsider when he is a bit older! : )

Thanks so much for the honest onlinement, S!

My son used it through kindergarten, and he was a young one for the grade 🤷‍♂️ (We chose not to red shirt)

    • C

They are bit heavy onlinepared to other lunchboxes, but my kids both started taking them to school in kindergarten without any issue.

  3. janet

We have these and we absolutely love them. Had them for 4 years and they still look new.

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

SWEET! Good to know how well they have held up through the years, Janet! Thanks a ton for onlinementing!

  4. Diana

My son used it thru kindergarten and first grade, and will be using it again this year. It is definitely heavy, especially when he’s bringing his chromebook home with him every day too. But it was super easy to pack his lunches and clean up afterwards! Just ordered one for my daughter too, along with some extra containers. Highly reonlinemend as it reduces the number of plastic bags we use!

Wow the pic with tacos…now THAT is a lunch!! 🤤

  6. Darla

Do any of you use them for your adult lunch? If so, what do you like about them?

  7. Julie

We have 2 Rovers and they are amazing!! When I bought them my husband thought I was crazy to spend that much money on a lunch box but he has since said that it was probably one of the best things we have ever bought. My daughter has used it from Pre-K – 3rd grade and it still looks new. They may be a little heavier than a plastic bento box but my kids have never onlineplained and they’ve used them since they were 4. We also buy a bunch of new magnets every year and its a fun surprise for the kids to see some new designs on the front.

  8. Joan

Do you then put it in a lunch bag or is that not necessary?
