totally random question…. in Collin’s picture, it looks like everyone has the Kindle Fire. (in the Amazon pics they have a kindle e-reader) For those who have a kindle or a kindle fire , which do you prefer ? I have an ipad now, but I want an e-reader that’s lighter than the ipad… I would appreciate any advice! thank you!!!

I have both the Kindle Fire and the Kindle e-reader Paperwhite. I read over 200 books a year. The Fire is a nice little tablet for the price (especially when you add Google Play), but it isn’t a great device to read from. It has a lot of glare and is back-lit which is bad for your eyes. I love my Paperwhite for reading. It is lit from the front, so there is no eye strain and you can still read in the dark. The basic Kindle e-reader is also nice but doesn’t have a light so you would have to provide one if you wanted to read in low light.

Thank you so much, this is exactly what I needed to know. The iPad has a lot of glare too, so I think I’ll order the kindle paperwite. 👍🏻👍🏻

I wonder what is the best price for the paperweight?

          • Colleen Lynch

The retail price for without special offers is $150. I paid $120 on sale at the end of January. They have sales on them all the time. The one with the ads cost $100 during that sale.

Mine says to claim by June 30th! I’m having knee surgery mid next month so I’m excited to have lots to read!

If I get this (with an IPad app) can my daughter read books when offline?

    • Nancy

Yes if on the kindle app, once you download the book on your device, you can read it even with no internet.

UGH – my last cheap membership ends ON FRIDAY. The last day for this offer! Oh well, I’ll download my books, turn on airplane mode so I have ten to read after it ends, and maybe they’ll have another deal when I’m done! 🙂

    • Lori

Mine ends this week, too. I have enjoyed having it. So, if you put it on airplane mode you will still have the books for a few days?

Thank you! I cancelled my Kindle Unlimited a couple of months ago, so I’m glad I was able to jump in on this promotion for some summer reading when I have vacation for a few weeks. Great deal.
