Fresh Cut Melon Being Recalled Due to Possible Salmonella Contamination

Caito Foods, an Indianapolis based food service onlinepany, is recalling fresh cut watermelon, fresh cut honeydew melon, fresh cut cantaloupe and fresh cut mixed fruit containing one of those melons because they have the potential to be contaminated with salmonella.
The fresh cut melons were packaged in clear, plastic clamshell containers and sold in Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, West Virginia and Wisconsin. They were sold at retailers like Whole Foods, Walmart, Trader Joe’s, Kroger, Target and other small independent retailers.
The Centers for Disease Control and the Food and Drug Administration have advised that 93 now 117 people have beonlinee ill due to salmonella and are investigating the products included in the recall.
