   On the Amazon page you linked, there is this warning as the last bullet point under “About this Product.”
   “Substantiated by AncestryDNA, May 2018 report. WARNING: AncestryDNA highly discourages the purchase of our DNA kit from unauthorized resellers. To ensure the best experience and service, please purchase directly from AncestryDNA Official. DNA kits that are fraudulently purchased and then resold through Amazon may be deactivated by AncestryDNA, and may not be eligible for a refund. “

   Good info….but if you look closely, you’ll see these are being sold by ‘Ancestry DNA official’ and fulfilled by Amazon.

  I did notice that but I’m not sure “AncestryDNA Official” is the same as AncestryDNA.

  It says to make sure it is sold by Ancestry DNA Official, so sold by Ancestry DNA Official IS the official seller. Lol I thought this is obvious.

   Not to poo poo this deal, but please know you are giving up your privacy and rights to your DNA when you do one of these kits. I know nobody on here is wanted by the FBI, but AncestryDNA, 23andMe, etc have admitted their their real goal is not to make money selling DNA tests, but to collect massive amounts of personal data. Their privacy policy states that they will use your information, without any further consent, as they reasonably believe is permitted by laws and regulations, including for marketing and advertising purposes,” and that they will turn it over to law enforcement if asked.

   Supposedly the FTC is looking into clamping down on this.

   Just FYI…don’t shoot the messenger 🙂

  If you are a military veteran or have submitted your sample to be a bone marrow donor your DNA is already on file. Same for those that have filed for WIC and medicaid. If the masses submitting DNA help to solve cold case criminal files I am all for it. On the bright side you may find you have more family than you ever thought possible. We all thought my step brother who passed away from cancer only had 2 kids… turns out he had 13 spread across the USA and in Vietnam. DNA and an investigative agency helped them find each other and their father’s 4 surviving sisters.

  Do you know that most people already given up their DNA without even knowing about it?
  Every time a woman gives birth – who gets to keep the placenta (a.k.a. DNA)?
  Every time a newborn is being tested for mandatory health conditions after birth, a mother should to call to ask not to use the material collected (a.k.a. DNA). How many women do that?
  I don’t think people are aware but a lot of DNA is already out there.
  And if you are a dad – a baby has 50 % of your DNA, too.
