It seems like a pretty good deal. but I’m looking for relatively inexpensive phone for my high school kiddo, maybe $300-$400, or cheaper! Any reonlinemendations?

    • Ivan

Do you want Android or Apple? And which carrier are you with?

      • Erika

Either one, I guess. What’s the pros and cons? I do not have any contract at the moment. My kiddo would have serious addiction to the phone usage, so I’d like to control over his app and time management & web control.. So I need a parental control feature or apps, too… It’s a head ache. He certainly needs a phone, but I do not want him to use it all the time for amusement… I just want him have a reasonable phone, but do not want to pay big bucks for phone itself and the service. It’s will be a Xmas present.

High schools kids love iPhones. They are very easy to use and you can set up data limits and other restrictions. That’s what our kids have. Verizon has buy one, get one on new XR phone. Would cost about $800 total, which they spread over 24-30 months. Or if want to keep it simple, I think you can get the 6S for $5 a month. Might be all they need for texting, calls and internet.

          • Ivan

Sorry..misread your post. Thought you said you had two kiddos. For one, I would do the 6S.

            • Erika

Actually, I need one for myself as well. As you mentioned, all we need are texting, calling, photo, internet. My kiddo mentioned iPhone SE as a simple solution, but it seems like 6S for $5 a month is the way to go. Thanks for your advice.

I got a Moto G5 at Best Buy a few months ago for like $200 and I love it. I had a Samsung before that and my hubby has an iPhone and I don’t see the difference. For what you want the phone for, I think it’s a good and cheap option. Good luck!!

      • Erika

That is so affordable! With Republic Wireless, it won’t affect our budget much. My kid can call/text any time for $15/month and able to use 1GB data with extra $5. I will do more research and pick the best for our needs. Thanks M!

Tempted, but think there will be betters deals post Black Friday.

  3. Cindy

Picked up 2 of these. It’s what me and the hubby are giving each other for xmas. So glad I don’t have to fight the best buy crowds on black Friday. Thanks for posting!!

For all of you looking for phones… consider buying a phone unlocked and “carrier free”. Verify your phone choice will work on on any network. Example iPhones will work on any Carrier’s network. you should be able to swap out your sim card or buy a new one if needed and you are up and running without all of the carrier’s individual bloatware. Just an idea for those who like the option to switch networks later and BYOD, bring your own device.

Bought a phone for my wife on Samsung.online. The galaxy s9+. With an I phone 6 s trade in I got the phone for about 539 plus tax. Great deal.

    • Chris

FYI phone is for black color phone only.

Unreal Mobile is great for kids. We live in a very rural area and it works great. They run on sprint and boost lines. You get UNLIMITED talk and text, cost is $10 for 1 gb, $15 for 2gb, and goes up $5 for each gig. No added taxes or fees.

    • SM

I have never heard of Unreal Mobile but it looks like there not a lot of coverage around me Oregon/Idaho. But you bring your own phone & can pay as low as $10 a month?
