  It’s a yearly sweepstakes. Most people end up taking the cash prize or selling because the taxes on the properties are too expensive to maintain. If anyone has won, I bet they aren’t on Hip2Save anymore 😂

  Yes, there is always a cash option you can take instead. . . but the houses are always so gorgeous and wonderfully decorated! And you get $100,000 extra anyway. It’s fun to browse through the photos of the houses . . . one can dream!

  Yah, the average person could not afford winning this. The taxes would end up being OVER 600K. Plus, the yearly fees for living in Palmetto Bluff are close to 10K. It’s really just a publicity/advertising stunt/scheme. The type of person who wins this and can afford to stay there doesn’t need it at least.

   I dont know if its the same but My friend won sofa set worth around 5k from watching HGTV and joining sweepstake. She thought it was a joke until she got a call from wayfair for delivery schedule.

   I worked at Kiawah Island when the 2013 HGTV Dream House was built there. The family that won it appeared to be wealthy enough to be able to afford a mansion or two or ten!

  Yeah … that’s pretty standard for any kind of entry form (online or otherwise). And also for any online shopping, like society hill mentioned. Legally, they need to make sure you are an adult to be eligible for the contest, hence the birth date. Even if you only did your shopping at a physical store, someone could use an RFID credit card chip reader and you could be victimized that way. There’s always a risk no matter where you go.

    Taxes over $600,000 What are you smoking ?people shouldn’t post inaccurate info when they have no clue taxes are less than a mortgage pay a month and you own the house it’s paid for and you get ? $100,000 and a $53,000 car where the confusion

    Gorgeous home, but I would probably take the cash and car if I won, give my house to my babies and try to find a seniorcitizens home that I love. If I won I would be as happy as a pig wallowing in slop. (Smile)
