A little advice as Easter is onlineing and many people buy rabbits this time of year…rabbits are sweet gentle and fragile animals. They are best with older kids. Also, they live for at least 7 years so they are not a “disposable” pet. Many rabbits beonlinee displaced this time of year because people do not realize how much work they really are. I just want to urge folks to make sure it is the right animal for your family should you choose to get one. 😀
Agree wholeheartedly! Bunnies belong indoors and are the third most abandoned pet in the US – do your research!
Agree with all except they most certainly do not belong only indoors. We have ours outside in their own little enclosure and they do just fine and dandy. While they ha e been domesticated and are kept sometimes as pets they are by design not made for solely indoor pets. With the right setup they are quite happy and content outdoors.
Tina, you are ignorant and should not be kept outdoors as a domesticated pet. They are not the same as a wild rabbit and should not be living outdoors. Bring your rabbit indoors or give it to someone who knows what they are doing. you are
Wow. How uneducated an opinion you have. We breed and show rabbits and our receive the utmost care and have a fantastic outdoor enclosure that is both safe from predators and natural in design. There absolutely IS a huge difference in wild and domesticated rabbits however they are by nature not designed to live in a cage. I find THAT cruel to be honest. You really should educate yourself instead of just mouthing off about a subject you have no clue about besides that you think cute fluffy bunnies should be treated like dogs and cats.
Wow, Chris. Go have a glass of wine and chill. There’s an animal rescue/farm near me that has lots of bunnies outside in cages, and the people that run the farm ADORE their animals and are huge advocates of responsible pet ownership.
I’d love this for an outdoor playpen for my chinchillas on cool days. 😃

We own 2 indoor free roaming lop ear rabbits,
And yes they are alot of work,
Not for small children,
We love our pets, but would not get rabbit’s again,
So with Easter onlineing, please do not go get a bunny just because they are cute,
Melinda and Chris are 100% correct!! There is a huge difference between domestic and wild rabbits! Wild bunnies are born with different instincts than domestic are. They have the ability to survive in nature I.e., forage for food,
find shelter, and most importantly they can tell who is a predator!! Domestic bunnies are very dependent on humans for survival. I’ve owned rabbits for years and always keep them indoors where they are safe and warm. My very first bunny lived over 10 years.
They are cute and cuddly, but also a lot of work. Please keep that in mind when Eastertime is here and you want to buy one for your little kiddos. It takes adult supervision for handling, feeding and cage cleaning. In fact, Melinda is correct in her statement that they should be cared for by an older child.
Bottom line….It isn’t fair to the bunnies to treat them inappropriately. Happy Easter Everyone 🙂

I have this run outside for my bun. It is 5 years old and has held up very well. He also has an inside cage as well. I don’t know how good this would be for guinea pigs as it is quite large.
