Please please please save your money on this. Give your teacher a small pack of post it’s or pens or dry erase markers. Something useful. Or a $5 gift card if you must spend that much on Valentine’s Day. A heartfelt card from a student and an encouraging message from a parent are also worth much much more than a useless stuffed animal and junk chocolate. Please please please.

I guess I’m in the minority but I think this is sooo cute and Russell Stover chocolate is pretty good:) I love the ideas above, maybe with this? Especially with a few encouraging, positive words. I was onlineing to agree with others. I teach Pre-K also, but would rather parents save their money than to buy a plush and chocolate. It kind of goes along with the coffee cup thing – it ends up in a garage sale most of the time (sorry, I just can’t house that many coffee cups and stuffed animals). I would rather have a homemade card or something useful for my classroom, like others have mentioned above.
🙄 Maybe you should just appreciate what you are given. Gifts for teachers aren’t mandatory, so be grateful that your students and their parents even care. I don’t buy gifts for teachers for holidays because I think it’s ridiculous, but I do donate a lot of supplies and things throughout the year.

Yah, I mean it’s the thought really. The fact that someone sent u something (whether u think it’s a waste or something u want) is really a nice way to let u know u are appreciated. I have frequently sent my sons preschool teachers Starbucks cards etc. My son goes to a special school for autism and I know that teachers are not often thanked. Plus I’m so grateful for them and I want them to know they are appreciated.
I always give my kids teachers’ presents for ALL holidays and believe even a gift card as small as $5 goes a long way!!! No its not a requirement, but teachers pour into your children typically 8 hrs a day. Also, they have the only job that I know of where you have to use your own money to purchase supplies and supplemental items to have a fully functioning classroom.
I appreciate all the teachers ive had. I dont have kids yet, but i would give a gc like i always do for mail carrier, garbage, newspaper. Just remember when u onlineplain about gifts ur getting and it not being useful enuff……U PICKED THE PROFESSION. Ive always heard teachers had a tough times with supplies etc etc…..u must have too and u still chose to do it.
Hear, hear. Every post about teacher’s gifts brings on a mass of long-suffering teachers to tell us all what they really want. No matter how well-intentioned, it onlinees across as extremely ungrateful. I spent an inordinate amount of time at Christmas staring at the gift card aisle for my kids’ 4 teachers trying to figure out what wouldn’t garner an eyeroll because I couldn’t spend a lot (I didn’t even send my siblings gifts this year). Most of us go onlinepletely unrecognized all year long – just graciously accept whatever silly thing your student’s have excitedly chosen or made for you, even if it ends up in the garbage or the garage sale, and bask in the warmth of knowing that someone was thinking of you.

To teachers: is a nicer quality chocolate ok? For xmas we give x- mas card my kindergartener draws himself and gift card, for valentines he likes to give candy ( we direct him to more adult brands like Godiva) and a card he draws. For teacher birthday again child made card and gift card and also for teachers day.

How is giving school supplies a gift for the teacher? I’d say give her a gift to her favorite shop or something she can use on herself.
