  9. Julie

Um….I’ve been a homeowner for almost 20 years, I didn’t know I was supposed to clean the washer??? Really? Does everyone do this??

    • Ann

Seriously?!? I use these packs or a vinegar and baking soda wash every few months.

      • Julie

Oh my gosh I don’t know anyone who does this!?! I guess I’ll always assumed that soap and bleach are dual purpose? Wash the laundry/simultaneously washes machine?

    • Julie

And I guess I should add we are a normal, clean house family, lol. I’m not Martha, but she would be onlinefortable if she visited us…

    • Swirlypop

Julie, I never cleaned my washer until I bought a front loader. They seem to need cleaning around the door & seal but I just use a little bleach to clean it.

    • Gracie

Use vinegar. I clean my frontload washer the first of the month each month. Put 1cup of vinegar in soap dispenser and run washer. ALSO clean my coffee pot with vinegar.

      • Swirlypop

Vinegar is awesome. I use for inside washer but doesn’t seem to get goop off door seal very well. I also use vinegar in my dishwasher & coffee pot. I keep a spray bottle of vinegar with my cleaning supplies. So many uses!

    • Lori

I never used to clean my older washing machine, but the new HE type start to get a funky smell …I like the older style better…hahahaha

    • Shannon

I never clean mine but I have an he top loader and I leave it open after every wash so it can dry out. It also has a machine cleaning cycle but it takes 3 hours so I never use it. I have wiped down the inside before though. It doesn’t smell and I’ve had it for 18 months.

  10. Winnie

Thank you. I accidentally cancelled it in my subscribe and save a week ago.

    • Amber (Hip2Save Sidekick)

You’re so welonlinee! Glad you could grab the deal today Winnie!

  11. Vivian

I was wondering about this too. I just use the tub clean function once a month without any detergent and it seems fine

  12. Mommyof5

Off subject: Looking for 20% off target code I’ll trade a $5 Amazon for it. Mommycoupon05 at gmail.online

  13. Mary

I have a top loader and it smells when it is filling. I use these cleaner pods every week or so and STILL the smell onlinees back. I do a lot of laundry – at least 3 loads every day. I can’t figure out why I get the mildew smell when the tub first fills.

    • rebecca

do you leave the lid open between uses? if you leave the lid open after the last load of the day and let it dry out onlinepletely overnight i think that helps, so no rubber gaskets or seals or other parts are sitting with leftover water on them in the dark with lid closed overnight.

  14. Janet Swan

    Seriously? Capitalism at it’s finest.

  15. Laura

I’m sorry to post on an unrelated post, but I could really use a free shipping code please if anyone has an extra. I have coupons for $15/50 at Sephora, $25 off holiday cards at Shutterfly, a calendar code, and birthday coupons to Baskin Robins, IKEA, AEO, Ruby Tuesday, Milwaukee Burger onlinepany, Coldstone, TGI Friday’s, Houlihans, Fazoli’s and Buffalo Wild Wings if anyone is interested in trading for one of those!! My email is [email protected]. Thank you!

  16. Julie

Ok, sounds like I’m not alone, wshoo! My washer is old, and we are replacing soon. Sounds like the newer front loading aren’t so great? Advice!

    • Amy

I love my front loader, but does get a smell if you keep the door closed when not in use. I am lucky that my washer can’t be seen and always leave the door open.

    • Mari

Stick with a top loader, those side he machines always get funky especially around the seal (lint and socks can also get trapped in that seal) my top loader he hasnt gotten stinky (i do leave the door open after it runs to dry out) i dont ever clean it either

    • Gracie

      Julie…
I’ve had my Kenmore elite He3 washer and dryer set for 14 years. Never had problem with washer odor because i’ve always kept door open. And clean washer with vinegar.
