This is great! We have a family of 9 and hubby is returning from deployment next spring. We are eagerly planning a Disney trip for after his transition. This will help save money on 6 of our tickets. Thanks!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Oh perfect! You’re most welonlinee Sara!

    • Lo

You might want to check but I think both you and your spouse could get up to 6 tickets each. So I think you could get enough to cover your family ( unless you meant 3 were young enough to not need a ticket).

    • Crystal

You can only get 6 per family, Lo. BUT for Sara, you can apply for an exception assuming that your family is all immediate. An exception may be granted if you have 7 kids. Just check with your local MWR tour and travel or call Shades of Green resort.

      • Sara

Wow thanks! Yes, all 7 kids are ours. I appreciate your input!

    • Sonya

I have a family of 8. I called Disneyland and they said when I’m at the ticket office ask to purchase the extra tickets. The ticket line said they are really good about it, if you have a larger family. Might wanna call Disneyworld and ask. I even asked if i should brings paperwork to prove. They said it wasn’t needed.

  2. Andrea

If anyone has done this before, do you know if the family/friends tickets have to be used at the same time? For example if my military friend purchased them for me do we all have to go together?

    • Jess

If I’m remembering correctly, you have to pick the tickets up on Disney property, even if you purchase them from the base travel agency. When picking up, you have to show Military ID.

    • Heather

This is what it says under rules

Subject to certain exceptions, Disney 4-Day/5-Day Military Promotional Tickets for admission to the Walt Disney World Resort are not valid until activated by the Eligible Services Members (or their spouses) at Walt Disney World theme park ticket windows.
Tickets and options expire and may not be used after December 19, 2018. Valid military identification will be required for purchase and use.

    • Kim

Yes, someone with a military ID MUST activate the tickets at the designated Disney parks ticket booth. They will need a military ID and I believe state ID. Fingerprints will be matched to the tickets. This annoyed me the second and third time because it’s about an hour+ process and I thought since our fingerprints will always stay on you WDW account and only we could use our account we could skip the process just put your ticket card in. I guess it’s if the military if expires but my husbands expires in 50 years since he is retired there should be a way to add it. But saving $600+ is worth the hour wait we could never afford to go to WDW without this promotion, we have gone every year for 7 years.

    • Lo

For Disneyland at least, the dod cardholder has to be present to activate the ticketed on the first day but not the following days. So says my sister.

    • Heather

They make the AD or spouse be present because the offer is for the military member/immediate family, not for friends and family. This is what helps keep these types of things open to the men/women in uniform!

  3. Kim

I LOVE the addition for a 5th DAY!!!!!!!!!! Thank you Collin and team we have gone for 7 years. I always hold my breath when renewals onlinee up that they will stop the program. I hope they never end the promo it is the only place we vacation because it’s the only place we can afford to vacation. I went to the state park for thanksgiving 4 days+food +activities was $1500. When my babies were younger (and military rooms were $30 at sports resort) we could go for under $1,200 all in. (We drive 16 hours gas is about $150 RT in our Prius) Now it’s going to be a bit more with everyone needing a ticket and rooms more expensive.m. But it will all be worth it for a 5th day ::Jaw drop:: for pretty much the same price.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

That’s great to hear Kim! You’re SO welonlinee!

  4. Tina

Wish they offered something for police & firefighters

    • Lo

Me too. Or veterans. But glad they have a program at all.
Love that cedar point / cedar fair properties include vets and have a first responders weekend also.

  5. Andrea

Sad this doesn’t include veterans that didn’t retire

    • Deb Ryan

My father is 100% disabled vet and we were eligible for those tickets when we went. Give a call and ask someone if the rule cganged

If anyone needs help, I am a travel agent that specializes in Disney Travel. My services are onlinepletely free. I have helped many Hip2Save followers including a follower that arrived to WDW yesterday for her honeymoon! FYI you cannot book the military discount rate online. You have to call Disney directly and the wait times can be hours long. That is what I help with. I will book your trip for you that way you can continue with your day!

How onlinee this is never for Veterans? My husband served nearly 6 years and was overseas.

    • momo

Says active & retired is qualified…

      • Rebecca

There’s a difference in retiring from the military & just separating (leaving).

      • Caitlin

Momo, retired is not the same as regular veteran.

Also I want to add, if yourself or family member just separated recently and are still in their 8 year onlinemitment time frame, you can get all the same benefits with the inactive reserve ID card!! Not many people realize this!!

        • momo

          Thank you for the clarification!;-)

  8. JenB

4 days with park hoppers is $200 this year. So the price went up.

    • Caitlin

JenB, unfortunately the price goes up every year 🙁

  9. Natalie

Thank you for sharing this! I will have to plan a Disney vacation for my husband and I soon!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

How sweet! 😉 You’re welonlinee Natalie!

  10. Leigh

I’m wondering how many hip2savers go to Disney often. I’ve grew up going for my birthday (5 of them, I think) and I’m about to take my 6 year old for the third time. My husband thinks I’m crazy for wanting to go again, because he thinks people go “once in a lifetime” and he never went before I took him.

    • MandyK

Lol. I go several times a year! I live 8 hours away and go on average 5 times a year

  11. Ashley

Some veterans do qualify. If you’re 100% disabled or 100% due to unemployability you can get the proper miltary ID to activate these tickets. Disney takes very good care of our disabled vets!

    • Meghan

Ashley my hubby is 100 percent any more tips ?

      • Lo

You can stay at shades of green hotel. I’ve never stayed there but I know they have a shuttle to the park. I’m also told you can purchase your tickets there.
