Have you received this notice in the mail?

Current and former owners and lessees of certain Toyota, Lexus, Scion, or Pontiac Vibe vehicles with a Takata airbag may be entitled to a payment from a class action settlement. That means if you sold or returned one of these recalled vehicles after April 11th, 2013 and before June 9th, 2017, and your vehicle was recalled under the Takata Airbag Inflator Recall prior to June 9th, 2017, you’ll have one year from the date that the Settlement beonlinees final to submit a Registration/Claim Form.

You may object to the Settlement by September 25th, 2017 and the court will hold a hearing on October 25th, 2017 to consider whether to finally approve the Settlement.

To submit a Registration/Claim Form online, go here and select the “Start a Registration/Claim Form” button. Note that Paper Registration/Claim Forms will be available at a later date, so be sure to check this website or call the toll-free line at 1-888-735-5596 periodically for updates.

The proposed Settlement benefits include:
  • An Outreach Program
  • A Rental Car/Loaner Program
  • An Out-of-Pocket Claims Process
  • A Customer Support Program and
  • A potential Residual Distribution

Wondering what this settlement is about? The Settlement resolves claims that Toyota manufactured, distributed, or sold certain vehicles containing allegedly defective inflators manufactured by Takata Corporation and TK Holdings, Inc. that allegedly could, upon deployment, rupture and expel debris or shrapnel into the occupant onlinepartment or otherwise affect the airbag’s deployment, and that the Plaintiffs sustained economic losses as a result thereof.

I’m confused. If we find our VIN to be part of the group, but haven’t received the settlement notice in the mail, can we begin the claim online at that link? Or do we have to wait to receive the letter in the mail first?

  6. Amie

Thanks for posting this. We have had a BMW, Lexus and a Toyota 4 runner. Maybe we out will be included in the settlement.

What? Anyone with a Yaris and Sienna. Both mine got recalled. The Yaris sat at dealership for 6 months to get replacement. The sienna is going on month 8! I never got this piece of paper.

Has anyone received any information about a settlement for Saab? I did get the notice about the airbag.

This recall has been ridiculous. We have a Corolla that was in the original 2014 airbag recall and the parts were finally made accessible over 2 years after the fact. Since we don’t live in a “high humidity” state, our cars weren’t a priority. Then we had the option to switch our car for a rental–but the increase in insurance for the long term rental was 4x more than we paid for the Corolla.
I sure hope we’re included in the settlement.

Okay-HELP with this. I am sorry I am not fully understanding what I need to do. I received the postcard. Is this the official represented law firm? Are we opting out of something .

Basically, what are the two options? I am not sure if I should “opt out” and not be legally bound and therefore object to settlement or NOT?

I haven’t had a problem with the airbag yet or had to get a rental car or anything else so not sure if I am supposed to be “claiming” anything.

Can someone spell it out for me what I need to do. I received the letter in the mail but do not own the car anymore.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Hmm, maybe try calling the number listed above to see if they might be able to help.

    • Amanda

Go to the website and answer their questions and they’ll let you know if you can submit a claim or not. We sold ours in June and I was still able to file a claim.

I got this card for my Mazda but I still own the vehicle. I finally got it fixed (because parts weren’t available until then) about a year after they started sending me messages telling me it was unsafe. That made me feel great! Based on what I read above, it doesn’t sound like there’s anything for someone like me to do. I didn’t sell or return the vehicle, I still own it. Advice?

    • Nicole A McGee

I’m wondering the same. I still own my Vibe and was able to have the dealership fix when the parts became available.
